Setting Up Cross Environment Connection (Model Reference)

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to set up cross environment connection.

The Model Reference

This chapter is about model reference. Model Reference allows us to integrate, connect, and consume data from model entity sitting in any other environment within the same tenant.

The Manage Model References tile, showing zero references.

For using the model reference function, a cross environment connection must be established and the environment from which the model entity is consumed.

Note

The environment from which the model entities are being consumed from must have at least one model entity with the API State set to Active. So, that it can be used outside of the environment.

When it comes to the model reference (and the HANA connection), we don’t need a reader function on a top of these, because it’s a live connection.

Puling the data from another environment is just few clicks away from you in the Universal Model. Watch step-by-step tutorias on how to grab data from different environments.

In this video cross environment data flow is explained in opposite direction: writing the data from yours to another environment.
