Objective

In this lesson, we will create the Analytic Model and prepare it for analytic consumption. We review the measures and dimension attributes of the added fact view, and associated dimensions. With focus on the company clusters like label and coordinates TSNE_X and TSNE_Y. These will be visualized as data points in the SAP Analytics Cloud dashboard.
At the conclusion of this lesson your Analytic Model will look like the following:

In general, analytic models are the analytical foundation for making data ready for consumption in SAP Analytics Cloud.
These models allow for the creation and definition of multi-dimensional structures to provide data for analytical purposes and to answer different business questions. The models come with predefined measures, hierarchies, filters, parameters, and associations, making navigation through the underlying data flexible and simple.
The sources for analytic models are facts, which can contain dimensions, texts, and hierarchies.

There are two options to create a new analytic model. Inside the Fact View editor using the Create Analytic Model link in the properties side panel. Or from scratch, which we will perform in the following steps.
Select Data Builder in the side navigation area. Choose your space if necessary.
Select New Analytic Model, opening the editor.

In the Repository section, search for your Actual Cash Flow Currency Role Currency with the technical name: FV_ActualCashFlowCurrencyRole.
Drag Actual Cash Flow Currency Role Currency and drop it on the canvas.

In the pop-up window, all measures, attributes and associated dimensions are marked by default. To add these to the Analytic Model, choose the Select button.

[Optional] Press the Show or hide source tree icon to hide the source tree explorer, and then the Reset button to align the model to the enlarged canvas area.

The Analytic Model, along with its fact source and linked dimension nodes, is displayed on the canvas.
In the properties side panel, the measures and dimensions that are exposed for analytic consumption are listed. Here we see:

In the properties side panel, enter the following names for the analytic model:

By selecting the fact and dimension nodes on the canvas, their properties are displayed in the side panel. You can add or remove their measures, attributes, as well as dimension associations anytime. This way, modelers can carefully design what parts of the data model to expose for a given analytic use case.
Select Actual Cash Flow Currency Role Currency from the Fact Sources node on the canvas.
In the properties side panel, the associated measures and attributes of the fact view are displayed for editing. We take over all elements and therefore don’t change anything.

Select the Company Code node on the canvas.
In the properties side panel, the associated attributes of the dimension are displayed for editing. We don’t change anything and continue with all attributes.

Optionally, you can select the other dimension nodes on the canvas to review their attributes.
Choose Fact Sources main node on the canvas to return to the analytic model Actual Cash Flow Currency Role overview.

When you save an object, it is stored in the SAP Datasphere repository. During a deployment, the object is created as a run-time version for use in the SAP Datasphere database.
Select the Deploy icon in the header menu.

Confirm the names in the dialog popup and Save it.
A notification window appears informing on the deployment status.
Ensure the analytic model is deployed before you continue.

In the Analytic Model preview perspective, you can navigate through the various dimensions and view the aggregated data. You can drill down by rows and columns, set filters on measures and dimensions, change display and hierarchies, order structures, page layout, etc.
This means, you will see how the data looks in SAP Analytics Cloud BI Reporting.
Review the Help Portal for more information at Using the Data Preview.
Choose the Preview toggle on the top right corner to switch to the analytics data preview. You can switch between the Model and Preview perspective anytime.

The preview page appears and displays all measures. In the header row, the measure names are displayed with their semantics for value (currency) and quantity (unit).
Using the Builder Panel:
The builder panel is automatically displayed at the right side of the application. You can show or hide it, by choosing the Builder symbol at the right.
When you select the Available Objects button in the builder panel, you get a list of all available dimensions and measures in the analytic model. Here you can select dimensions and measures and assign them directly to the table’s rows or columns by selecting their Column or Row icons.
You can align the order of the measures in the Builder Panel. If necessary, select a measure, hold the mouse button and move the measure to the target position.
You can change the items’ display between ‘ID’ or ‘Description’, as well as their sort order by selecting the More (…) button.
You can also drag and drop dimensions from the Available Objects list into the builder panel.

In Available Objects,
to preview the clustered data points of the company codes. The data is aggregated per ‘Company Code’. You can try out different attributes to query this model.

Congratulations! You have successfully created a new Analytic Model and explored the model perspective to review the measures and dimensions for the model. The draft model can be previewed to prepare it for the Data Analyst, working with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
