Liquidity items table

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to add a table which will summarise the liquidity items based on imported data.

Now that we have imported the data from SAP Datasphere to our SAP Analytics Cloud planning model, we can start building a table on top of the imported data.

1. Create the first table

  1. First let’s access the story that we will be using. Click on Files, then under the main Analytics Cloud space, open the story SAP__FI_CLM_LIQUIDITY_PLANNING.

  2. This story already has two pages added. On the first page, Liquidity Overview, we can see the financial data visualized with different charts and key figures. The second page, Liquidity Planning, is empty and we will be adding to it. To add a table to the story, first switch the story from View mode to Edit mode by clicking Edit in the top right corner, then select the tab Liquidity Planning.

  3. Click the Left Toolbar icon and drag and drop the Table Widget onto the page.

  4. We move the table to the left side of the story and resize it as shown in the screenshot.

  5. Let’s also change the underlying data model of the table from the sample content to our own model which we previously created. Click on the pencil icon to change the primary model.

  6. Click Select other model…

  7. Then select the model you created in the previous exercise NEW_SAP__FI_CLM_IM_LIQUIDITY_PLANNING.

  8. Now we add Measures and Dimensions to the rows and columns of the table. Under Rows, click on Add Dimensions and then select Transaction Currency.

  9. Next, under Columns, add the Time dimension to the columns of the table

  10. For Liquidity Item we make the changes to the filters. Under the Filters panel, click on Liquidity Item (1).

  11. Select Cash Closing, Cash Opening and Cash Flows related to operating activities and click OK.

  12. For better readability, we want the Transaction Currency column to be displayed as the first row of the table. This can be changed by dragging and dropping the Transaction Currency field in the Builder panel as the first row of the Rows section.

  13. We will also filter the time dimension to 2020, 2021 and 2022. Under the Filters section, click Add Filters then select Time (Member).

  14. In the Set Filters for Time window, select the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. Then click OK.

  15. Let’s also drill down on the liquidity items to get a more detailed view of the data. Open the dropdowns for each item under the Liquidity Item column in the table. The table should look like the screenshot below.

  16. Click Save in the file menu to save your progress.

Note

A pop-up will be displayed to ask if you would like to remove the model for performance purposes. You should opt to keep the model by choosing
  1. We must now delete the 2022 Actual data from the table (as the zero values in 2022 are a data quality problem). To do this, select all the values in the column 2022 and then hit the delete key.

  2. You will get a confirmation of the deletion at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Save your progress again by clicking Save in the file menu (as you did earlier in step 16).

Now that we have imported the data from SAP Datasphere to our SAP Analytics Cloud planning model, we can start building a table on top of the imported data.
