Embedded SAP Analytics Cloud is a lightweight version of the Enterprise SAP Analytics Cloud that is embedded in SAP DM. SAP Digital Manufacturing for insights leverages embedded SAP Analytics Cloud functionality through the Manage Dashboards app, as introduced in Unit 1, Lesson 2.
To enable seamless single sign-on (SSO) between SAP Digital Manufacturing and embedded SAP Analytics Cloud, you must establish trust between your identity provider (IDP) and the application. This two-way trust configuration process works as follows:
- Download SAML authentication metadata from SAP Digital Manufacturing and upload it to your IDP
- Download SAML authentication metadata from your IDP and upload it to SAP Digital Manufacturing
In the Configuration for Analytics app, there is the tab of "initialize Embedded Analytics," which serves as your configuration point for this trust setup. Within this app, you can do the following:
- Download the SAP DMi SAML authentication metadata
- Upload your IDP's SAML authentication metadata
- Monitor configuration status - when properly configured, the External Identity Provider Status will display as Configured
Note that you need the role DMCI_SAC_Admin to complete these steps. When completed, users will experience seamless authentication when accessing embedded Analytics Cloud dashboards within SAP Digital Manufacturing. A user in eSAC is created the first time they access the Manage Dashboards tile. The system checks if the user exists in eSAC and creates the user if not. To do so, please consider that the role DMCI_SAC_User is assigned to your user.
