Establishing and Building a Live Connection to SAP Datasphere

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to establish a Live Connection between SAP DM and SAP Datasphere

Set-up Live Connection to SAP Datasphere

This lesson will explain how to build a Live Connection between SAP DM and SAP Datasphere and how to build a dashboard in the SAP Analytics Cloud to visualize manufacturing data.

This figure illustrates data flow and connections among SAP Analytics Cloud components and data sources.

The Live Connection is built in the SAP Datasphere interface, where you need to enter the connection parameters as well as the authentication credentials from your DM instance. When the connection is established you need to create a Data Flow, that defines what data is transferred from SAP DM to SAP Datasphere. Here you can also configure how often this Data Flow shall be executed to transfer new data - for example, once an hour. Your data is now stored in a table in SAP Datasphere, if you chose to replicate your data here.

To build a dashboard using this data you need to create an analytic model from your table that is preparing your data for the analytic usage in the SAP Analytics Cloud. This model can then be accessed from your integrated SAP Analytics Cloud, and you can start visualizing your data there.

How to Build a Live Connection between SAP Digital Manufacturing and SAP Datasphere

In the following video, you will see how to build a Live Connection between SAP Digital Manufacturing and SAP Datasphere, as well as how to extract data from SAP Digital Manufacturing and visualize it in the SAP Analytics Cloud.
