Generating and Publishing Standard Reports

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to generate and publish standard reports.

Standard Reports

SAP Incentive Management includes the functionality to generate static standard reports, or to create custom reports if needed. Standard reports are based on Business Objects Crystal Reports, which allows administrators to generate detailed, formatted, pixel-perfect, and customizable reports based on sales compensation data. Reports can be generated in three formats: PDF, Excel, and Crystal Reports native.

Static reports allow you to easily manage and publish key performance information to any size sales force. Reports can be published at any time, in conjunction with the regular calculation or at a different time.

The following reports are available in a standard implementation. You can also create custom reports using the Crystal Reports Designer.

  • Compensation Detail Statement
  • My Compensation Statement
  • Order Details
  • Payment Summary
  • Top Transactions

Once reports are generated and published, payees can access the reports in the Incentive Management Portal.

Onboarding Users for Reporting

Requirements for Standard Reports

In order to access standard reports, each user must be assigned to a Business Object Reporting Group, or . A BO Group allows users to be segregated by role, ensuring only the relevant reports are published to users. When a BO group is created, it is available as an option when running the Calculation. When publishing reports, select the required reports and the associated group.

Two BO Groups are available by default: Compensation Analytics User Group and Compensation Reports User Group. By default, all Participants are members of the Compensation Reports User Group.

Using Custom BO Groups

In some cases, the two default groups are not sufficient to meet the needs of the business. In this case, you can use any other BO Groups; however, users will need to be explicitly added to the group using Express Data Loader. To do this:

  • Create a generic attribute on the participant workspace that includes the term "BO Group".
  • For each participant that is being onboarded, populate this field with the name of the BO Group to which they will be added.
  • Create a BOTRIG file. This is an empty trigger file that reads each participant’s BO Group and updates their group assignment. The trigger file is called BOTRIG_YYY.txt, where YYY is the environment type. This can be PRD, DEV, UAT, or TST.
  • Upload the BOTRIG file using Express Data Loader

Generating Standard Reports

Reports are generated in the Calculation by selecting the Generate Statements checkbox. If this box is checked, a new step called Report Options is added to the calculation wizard. In this step, select the report format, the reports to generate, and the BO Groups. Multiple formats, reports, and groups can be selected.
