Identifying Target Users and Personas

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to identify the consulting roles and personas best suited to benefit from SAP Joule for Consultants.

Identifying Target Users and Personas

SAP Joule for Consultants is built for those who deliver SAP projects and works best when Consultants understand which roles it is designed to serve and what each of those roles receives.

This lesson defines the primary and extended roles or personas, and the differing factors between SAP Joule for Consultants and SAP Joule for Developers.

The Primary Personas

Three roles reside at the core of what SAP Joule for Consultants is designed to support.

1. Functional Consultants

Functional consultants spend most of their time answering configuration questions, evaluating fit-gap scenarios, and producing documentation. These tasks are knowledge intensive. The answers exist somewhere in the SAP ecosystem but finding them takes time.

SAP Joule for Consultants gives functional consultants direct access to SAP-verified guidance on process and module-specific configuration. A consultant can ask a natural language question about a configuration step and get a sourced answer in seconds rather than minutes. They can explore extensibility options without manually searching multiple documents.

The Prompt Library offers prompts filtered by consultant role and subject area. This removes the need to craft queries from scratch and makes the tool immediately productive for consultants new to a module.

2. Technical Consultants

Technical Consultants work across configuration, integration, and troubleshooting tasks. They frequently encounter ABAP code that they must understand and manage, without necessarily being developers. They also manage error messages, system behavior, and root cause analysis.

SAP Joule for Consultants supports these challenges directly. Technical consultants can conduct root cause analysis on errors. They can ask the tool to explain what a piece of ABAP logic does. They can query SAP Notes and Knowledge Base Articles to investigate system behavior.

For technical consultants, the value is speed and confidence. The tool delivers the correct SAP guidance at the point of investigation, to resolve issues faster, without needing to wait on another expert.

3. Enterprise Architects

Enterprise architects make design decisions that shape the entire project. A wrong decision early can create rework that runs into weeks. A right decision, made with the correct SAP guidance, avoids that cost entirely.

SAP Joule for Consultants gives architects a way to check whether the proposed architecture is clean core compliant. They can query the tool on standard SAP functionality boundaries, integration patterns, and customization implications before committing to a direction.

This matters most during the Explore and Realize phases of SAP Activate. The tool makes it faster to verify direction without requiring assistance from a separate expert or escalating tickets to SAP Support.

The Extended Personas

Beyond the three primary roles, two additional personas benefit from the tool in additional and specific contexts:

4. Project Managers on RISE Migrations

Project Managers on RISE with SAP Migrations manage a specific challenge. The scope of what should happen across phases is large and understanding SAP Activate phase deliverables, readiness criteria, and common risks requires access to SAP methodology content.

SAP Joule for Consultants allows project managers to query content directly. They can ask about Activate phase requirements, check for the standard approach for a transition step, or clarify commercial and technical dependencies. The tool does not replace project management judgment. It reduces the time spent to find the information that judgment depends on.

5. Internal IT Administrators

Internal IT Administrators with customer organizations are often responsible for maintaining SAP environments and supporting day-to-day operations. They work alongside Implementation teams and require access to accurate and timely SAP guidance.

SAP Joule for Consultants provides this required access. An internal IT Admin can query the tool for configuration settings, check the implications of a proposed change, or search for the correct SAP Note for system behaviors. The tool gives them the same quality of SAP guidance that external consultants have.

SAP Joule for Developers

SAP Joule for Consultants and SAP Joule for Developers are separate tools, designed for different purposes.

  • SAP Joule for Consultants is designed for the configuration, design, and management of SAP projects. When the work is about understanding, configuring, or advising, SAP Joule for Consultants is the right tool.
  • SAP Joule for Developers is designed for ABAP developers who write, test, and remediate code inside development tools. When the work is about writing or remediating ABAP code, SAP Joule for Developers is the one to use.

These tools work together, and used by the same project team. On a migration, a technical consultant may use SAP Joule for Consultants to explain what a piece of ABAP logic does in functional terms. The developer on the same team uses SAP Joule for Developers to fix the code itself.

Lesson Summary

  • Functional consultants use the tool to navigate configuration questions, explore process options, and produce documentation faster.
  • Technical consultants use it to investigate errors, interpret ABAP logic, and query SAP Notes without waiting on specialist support.
  • Enterprise architects use it to validate clean core compliance and check design decisions against SAP Best Practices before committing.
  • Project managers on RISE migrations use it to navigate Activate methodology content and understand phase requirements.
  • Internal IT Administrators use it to access accurate SAP guidance for day-to-day operations and environment management.
  • SAP Joule for Developers is a distinct tool for ABAP code generation and remediation. The two tools serve the same project team but handle different tasks.
