Ending a Worker Assignment

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to end a worker assignment by closing the Worker record in SAP Fieldglass.

Ending Worker Assignments

Worker assignments can come to a close in SAP Fieldglass for a number of reasons. Typically, when the term of the worker's assignment ends, the assignment logically and automatically terminates, rendering the worker record as closed.

However, if a worker leaves an assignment early, doesn't show up, or the buyer wishes to terminate the assignment for other circumstances or reasons, the worker assignment can be manually closed. Once the work order is deemed closed, the individual worker record can be closed as well depending upon the buyer organization's operational processes.

If a Worker's assignment naturally comes to an end and no interim manual interventions are required, buyers often choose to auto-close the work order after a specified number of days, streamlining the process and ensuring they can accurately account for their current active workers.

Gabriel Goldman is an accounting clerk hired by Melanie, the manager of the finance department at WorkingNet Networking, Inc., a global manufacturer of data networking equipment. He was hired for a six-month assignment at their Atlanta office but has been called for jury duty during his tenure. Because his jury service is expected to be of a significant duration, Melanie must hire another temporary accounting clerk. Before she can do that, she'll need to end Gabriel's assignment.

Follow along as she does that.

Close a Contingent Worker with Joule

In an effort to enhance the "complete" phase of the contingent operational workflow associated to Work Orders, buyers who have enabled the AI Joule Co-Pilot can directly engage and prompt the assistant to quickly close workers assigned to a contingent project or Word Order within the application. The user will be prompted for the worker’s name or worker ID and associated end date. Joule will request the actual end date, reason, and comments for the closure action to be reflected in the system. This enhancement helps reduce manual and administrative burdens, while improving the overall user experience with these types of tasks.
