Important Technology Updates

Framework Update

We will begin with updates to the underlying technology of SAP Commerce Cloud.

The framework has been upgraded to JDK 21 and Spring 6.

For customers running on the August 2025 update with JDK 17, the validity period of this SAP Commerce Cloud version will be extended from six to twelve months. We will provide security fixes until the end of Q2 2026. The JDK 21 version will continue the series of updates, as usual, in accordance with our continuous innovation guidelines, which include regular releases of new features. For more information, see Continuous Innovation in SAP Commerce Cloud 2211 | SAP Help Portaland our FAQ

Solr Updated to Solr 9.8

SAP Commerce Cloud now supports Solr 9.8.. Details on supported minor versions are available here.

Documentation on upgrading to Solr 9.x is available here. Please note that Solr 9.5 is no longer part of the SAP Commerce Cloud Zip file.

OAuth Update

SAP Commerce Cloud’s September 2025 update rebuilds OAuth on current Spring libraries, replacing the EOL Spring Security OAuth. The legacy OAuth2 extension is removed in favor of authorizationserver, resourceserver, and oauth2commons, with UI/APIs updated to modern Spring Security OAuth 2.0. Deprecated Resource Owner Password and Implicit flows are no longer supported. Any existing usage needs to switch to the Authorization Code flow. Composable Storefront Angular 19 and Node.js 22 Updates

We have also been making updates to SAP Commerce Cloud, composable storefront. You must now update to the latest composable storefront version that includes Angular 19 and Node.js 22. This usually requires testing and refactoring due to the removal of deprecated code in Angular and associated updates in Composable Storefront.

For more information about the updates and configuration steps, see Update Release 2211.36.

Angular 19 Update for SmartEdit

Angular has been upgraded from 17 to 19 for SmartEdit. Ensure that you test your SmartEdit customizations to verify that they work with Angular 19.

Drools Update

The last update we want to mention here is to Drools, which has been upgraded from version 8 to version 10.

Both Drools 8 and 9 are at risk of being out of maintenance, so it’s necessary to upgrade to the latest stable 10 version to ensure security and maintain compatibility.
