Adjusting Reference Stories

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to adjust SAP Sports One Reference Content

Adjusting the SAP Landing Cockpit

If users want to customize and adjust SAP Sports One Reference Stories, which is more than applicable, a copy of the folder should be created. This ensures that these adjustments are not overwritten and therefore lost, when importing newer versions from SAP!

Once a local copy of the XS05 import folder has been created, you can adjust the SAP Landing Cockpit. This includes adding new/custom stories and modifying existing hyperlinks to specific stories. You can customize this copied version according to your needs.

Adjusting the SAP Sports One Reference Stories

The situation is quite different with SAP Sports One Reference Stories. They must be adapted so that they can deliver data seamlessly after import into the customer systems. These adjustments are essential for the functioning of the story or, in the case of the layout, often desired by users. In this lesson, we'll address the following adjustment points:

  • Model Prompts
  • Filters
  • Calculations
  • Layout

Adjusting Model Prompts

If you are already seeing the initial data, which is not always the case, it may not be what you expected. This could be due to the prompt settings of the models being used. The prompts were already introduced in "Adjusting Data Prompts". For example, it's possible that incorrect time periods have been selected for data import in the "SAP_S1_Internal_Teammembers model. The same applies, for instance, to the "SAP_S1_Match_Statistics" model regarding season or competition details. Therefore, make sure that all prompts are appropriate for the underlying scenario. You can find an overview of your prompts in the navigation bar under DataPrompts.

The image shows a tool interface for setting variables for all players, including match dates, competition federation, and competition types. The interface includes options to enter IDs and select dates, with buttons for setting or canceling the inputs.

Adjusting Filter

As explained in the lesson Managing Filter Options, a distinction is made between the Story Filter, Page Filter (Input Control), and the Widget Filter on an element, for example, chart or table. The SAP Sports One Reference Stories are mostly structured in a way that the user only needs to adjust the Story Filters and existing Page Filters. These are often filtered on a team of the SAP demo system. To load the teams and players from your SAP Analytics Cloud system, and thus the data, please interact with all filters in the Story Filter bar and adjust them accordingly. The same applies to existing Page Filters. This ensures that your teams and players will be displayed in many charts and tables. For some SAP Sports One Reference Stories, you can see the first data after the adjustments for prompts and filters.

The image shows a filter interface with Team ID set to 1899 Hoffenheim and Person Role set to Player. The Person filter is set to All.
A dropdown menu interface displays selections for Team ID (1899 Hoffenheim), Person (All), and Person Role (Player). The Team ID option is highlighted with a red border.

Adjusting Calculations

If not all data is displayed comprehensively, some calculation processes may be erroneous. This is because each system has defined different parameters in SAP Sports One, which need to be pulled again here in SAP Analytics Cloud. Examples of these could be performance parameters, questionnaires, and more. To modify a calculation in a chart or a table, please select It, and select the story calculation you wish to customize. For adjusting calculations, select fx.

A screenshot of a data analysis interface shows the Columns section with a measure labeled TOT_DIS and an icon highlighted in red for editing calculations. Additional icons for actions like adding dimensions and deleting are also visible.

In the calculation overview, you can see that a value from the SAP Sports One demo system is selected under Values or Input Controls. Please select the drop-down list to make changes to this calculation.

The image shows the Calculation Editor interface with the name TOT_DIS. The Properties section highlights the selection of Measure as Value and Dimensions as Key Figure, with the value set to [SAP] Distance Total.

Finally, you can select the values and fully customize your calculation accordingly.

The image shows a selection interface for a key figure, with Distanz Gesamt available for selection and currently unchecked. The right section lists SAP Distance Total as the selected member.

The correct data will be displayed in the charts and tables that utilize these calculations.

Adjusting the Story Layout

Sometimes, users may want to customize the SAP Sports One Reference Stories not only in terms of content on data level but also in terms of design and layout. Design adjustments may include the following points:

  • Individual club branding
  • Customizing colors, thresholds, and reference lines
  • Adjustments to element types, such as charts or other visualizations
  • Creating different and individual analysis

The possibilities of creating individual stories and adjusting in SAP Analytics Cloud were already introduced in the units before. Feel free to review that again.

Final Words

All these adjustments provide a guide and solution assistance for SAP Sports One Reference Stories that do not display data. Usually, the issues lie precisely in the points mentioned. Otherwise, please contact your SAP contact for other customization difficulties.

In this unit, we comprehensively describe what SAP Sports One Reference Content is, how it can be imported, and how it can be reused.
