Data Management in SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement

When creating personalized customer experiences, consolidated data is one of the main challenges for businesses. SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement gets data in different ways:

  • API
  • Integrations to E-Commerce Platforms
  • Product Catalogs
  • Web and Mobile Events
  • Customer Databases
  • Relational Data Connections
  • SAP Emarsys Forms
  • File Imports
  • Other External Data Sources

Then, you can use this data to create personalized messages and target segments.

Contact Fields Overview

SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement provides standard system fields for storing contact data. Depending on your business needs, you can create your own custom fields.

System Fields:

  • Every SAP Emarsys Customer Engagement account contains a standard set of contact data fields such as Salutation, First Name, Last Name, Email, and so on.
  • These system fields can neither be edited nor deleted.
  • If you need a system field to be defined differently, for example, because you want to include more or other options, you must create a copy of the system field and rename it; the new field will then behave like a custom field.

Product Fields:

  • These fields are created depending on your product package and the add-ons you’ve purchased; you have specific field details such as the channel-specific opt-in field, Newsletter field, Interests field, and " Do not track me" field.
  • Product fields must not be deleted or renamed, as this will cause the respective product to stop working. Since they are enabled individually for each account, field IDs will vary from account to account.

Custom Fields:

  • Permitted users of the platform can create custom fields. They can be edited, deleted, or copied as required.
