Inserting Data Sources into the Workbook

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use the SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Excel to insert a table and add a specific data source.

Add a Table

In the SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Excel, data is displayed and analyzed in tables.

To create a table:

  1. Choose Add Table from the ribbon or from the Designer panel.Add Table button selected from the add-in ribbon or Designer panel.
  2. When prompted to choose a data source, browse to the model or dataset you want to analyze.
  3. Select Open.Select Data Source dialog highlighted with the Open button in the bottom right (blue) next to Cancel.

Data Source for Formulas

Another option for analyzing SAP Analytics Cloud data is to choose Add Data Source for Formulas from either the Designer panel or in the Add Functions option in the ribbon. With this option, no table is displayed. Instead, you can use formulas to design layouts that do not follow the classic row/column-based layout.

You will explore SAP-specific formulas later in this course.

Save a Workbook

You can save workbooks locally or on a server, such as Microsoft OneDrive. The saved workbook stores the current view of the table. When you reopen it, you must connect to the tenant, then refresh the table to enable navigation and data entry.
