Solution Overview

SAP Master Data Governance cloud-ready mode introduces process visualization to enhance transparency and control over master data workflows. This feature, enabled through SAP Build Process Automation and available in SAP S/4HANA 2023 and later, provides graphical views of past and current process steps, workflow tasks, and their processing details. It also supports federated MDG processes for cross-system monitoring.

Note

The app Process Visualization for cloud-ready mode in MDG is a BTP based SaaS Cloud app from SAP Build Process Automation, with delivered MDG content.

High Level Architecture

The solution components SAP Build Process Automation and SAP S/4HANA (OP) interact with Workflow and Process Visualization for cloud-ready mode in SAP Master Data Governance.

After a successful configuration, your SAP Master Data Governance on SAP S/4HANA system will be able to trigger BTP workflows for governance purposes, and your MDG processes will be able to be visualized in the BTP Process Visibility app, which can be navigated to from the following MDG apps:

  • ManagerGovernance Process
  • Manage Consolidation Process
  • Manage Inbound Process
  • Process Path Overview
The figure explains the high level architecture of the process visualization with the components involved and the communication between this components.

The function Workflow and Process Visualization for cloud-ready mode in SAP Master Data Governance is intended to be used for MDG on SAP S/4 HANA 2023 and requires the following services in the SAP BTP subaccount:

  • SAP Build Process Automation
  • SAP Build Work Zone
  • SAP BTP Cloud Foundry
  • SAP Cloud Connector to establish access to the SAP S/4 HANA system.
  • SAP Cloud Identity Services - Identity Authentication (optional).

  • SAP Business Application Studio to create/deploy the workflow and task UI (optional)

The figure shows the screenshots to access the Process Path app from a Manage Process application

Process Visualization is enabled in Process Template configuration.

In the Manage Process applications, the Show→Process Path button enables you to access the Visualization app, which is provided by SAP Build Process Automation in SAP BTP.

Find out who has received the process in the workflow inbox.

The figures shows the Process Path Overview app.

The Process Path Overview app provides an overview page to monitor visualization-enabled processes from all MDG systems in the federation landscape.

Overview cards provide basic KPIs to monitor and analyze MDG processes.

Changing KPIs or adding new cards is possible in the SAP Build Process Automation app (BTP).

The figure shows an analytical card and the way to the MDG Process App.

Each analytical card can be drilled down to a list of paths, and further to each process path.

Open the MDG Process app from the process path app.
