In SAP S/4HANA, the material master database is often simply named material master or product master. The term product and material are used synonymously in the SAP system.
The material master contains information on all the materials that a company procures, produces, stores, and sells. This information is stored in individual material master records. The material master database is the central repository of information on materials for the enterprise and the central source for retrieving material-specific data. The integration of all material data in a single database eliminates the problem of data redundancy.
