Referring back to the ADDIE model, once the learning needs analysis and design and development work has completed, we focus on implementation. This is what we mean by  enablement delivery. You're now going to implement or deliver the enablement content to users. When we talk about enablement delivery, there are many different methods to consider. Traditional classroom, training delivered by a trainer, face-to-face in a classroom setting. Virtual classroom, delivered by a trainer. Video tutorials, instructional videos, so the learner can watch to understand the process or concept. e-learning, online learning lessons to  be completed at a time that is convenient to the learner. Key user knowledge transfer. Your organization may refer to key users as super users or power users. The key user network is a powerful group of people that can provide knowledge transfer to teams or individuals. Reiterating the need for learning in the flow of work, in-application help provides context-sensitive help to support learners in real time. On the job coaching with a colleague or a key user, often with hands-on use of the system, is another  method of delivery. Enablement delivery methods should be documented in the enablement strategy so that everyone is clear on how they will receive learning and enablement. A word here on blended learning. Blended learning is a term that encompasses all of the methods of delivery we just covered, plus exercises, webinars, social  collaboration,  blogs, etc. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to enablement delivery. Everyone is different, so everyone learns in slightly different ways. We recommend you offer a blended learning approach to cater for this. Incorporating hands-on learning also increases adoption. More on this topic later. SAP Learning Services interviewed customers globaly from October 2022 to January 2023. It is clear from the results shown here that a blended learning approach is being followed extensively. Our customers explain that they use several of these different methods to deliver enablement on different topics. Virtual learning with a trainer has now become more  prevalent,  supported by online learning. However, formal classroom  training still has a place. People also want to be able to interact with other learners in a physical classroom guided by a trainer with the ability to ask questions face-to-face. Another important thing to consider is to include all four of these different elements into delivery  methods where possible. Visual images and videos help reinforce instructions a learner has heard or texts they've read. In our customer interviews many people mention wanting to provide their learners with more short instructional videos. There should be auditory elements where learners listen to instructions and reading and writing elements give learners an opportunity to reinforce their learning by making notes about what they've learned or have the opportunity to read further reference material  if they wish to do so. Kinesthetic hands-on learning provides learners with the chance to reinforce what they've learned by having a go themselves with practical hands-on exercises. Many people learn by doing, that is having hands-on use of a system or exercises to practice what they've learned. Here are some ways to meet this need. There are a number of different ways to create a specific training system to provide learners with training data. It varies depending on the solutions you're implementing. Talk to your local IT team to explore the opportunities around this. Another way, often in conjunction with the training system, is having formal exercises for the learner to follow. And if you don't have a training system, another alternative is to provide simulations in a test mode for learners to verify what they've learned. Also consider learning evaluation. Continuous improvement of enablement is crucial, especially in a cloud world. There are a number of ways of doing this. Set informal quizzes to monitor the effectiveness of learning content. You want to confirm that learners truly  understand what they're being taught. Set formal assessments for business critical or regulated business areas to assess whether learners are obtaining the exact knowledge and skills they need. This ultimately affects the  efficiency of the business and is mandatory for businesses like the pharmaceutical industry when stringent regulations will be in place for certain processes. Gather learner feedback and most importantly act on it. If you get feedback from learners that  content isn't working then it must be updated. Learners will quickly lose trust in enablement content if it is incomplete, inaccurate or completely incorrect. Our ultimate aim for enablement  delivery is to drive adoption. You need to gather feedback to  make sure that happens.

Trainers delivering classroom  training or virtual lessons have a specific skill set. It's really important to consider what makes a good trainer. We see many customers who think because an individual has created content, then they should be the trainer who goes on to deliver. This is not always the best approach. Not everyone has the necessary  skills to deliver training. Consider this when you're  setting up your team. Subject matter experts. First of all, trainers must be knowledgeable on the subject they are teaching and have enthusiasm and patience. They must be enthusiastic about the subject they're teaching and have a patient approach, so that learners do not feel under pressure or rushed as  they learn new concepts. They also must have effective  clear presentation skills so that the learners understand their guidance and instructions. It's really important that the trainer can  engage and motivate delegates to learn. This is particularly required in virtual sessions where learners can be easily distracted. Trainers must also be skillful in conveying complex information in a way that is easy to understand. Learners need to really understand the subject matter that they're being taught. Trainers are most effective when they are assertive in a professional way to ensure enablement  objectives are met. Most of all, most learning events  have a set duration, so it is important for trainers to keep a good pace whilst also remaining focused on achieving the  learning objectives. Trainers must also naturally have  good questioning and listening skills to ensure that their learners are  really understanding the subject matter. Note that if you have a team of trainers delivering courses that they have not developed the content for, give them sufficient time to learn the content well before  they start to deliver. Here are a few delivery hints and tips to consider. Train the trainer. The aim of train the trainer is to equip your trainers with the knowledge and expertise to deliver effective trainer-led learning, whether that be in a virtual or face-to-face environment. To be credible, a good trainer  must  have excellent knowledge of the user-based system or  processes they are teaching. Make sure you facilitate trainer-trainer sessions for trainers to practice their delivery skills before delivery starts. As part of traditional classroom and virtual trainer-led delivery, it's useful to pilot business critical courses. Pilot is a trial run giving an opportunity for final testing of the enablement content in delivery mode. During the pilot, assess the  trainer's knowledge and ability to deliver in an engaging manner before the live courses so that any improvement areas can be identified and  acted upon prior to delivery commencing And finally, test the learning location, physical or virtual, and supporting logistics and administrative processes. Testing the training location, if delivering physically, the virtual classroom and supporting logistics is hugely beneficial to help identify any errors or issues in  processes before delivery starts. Ultimately, you want to ensure delivery goes as smoothly and effectively as possible.

Before you start to deliver, you will need to publish your content. There are a number of ways to integrate enablement content into people's working lives. Reference libraries are invaluable if learners want to browse through  all content on different topics. In-application help provides  vital reference content that people can navigate to and from within the system. This is recommended as it has been proven that people learn more effectively within their flow of work, rather than having to go and search for enablement content about a particular topic when they need it. As we've seen, use of video is becoming prevalent as an informative learning intervention. Learners also expect to be able to reference  content on the go on their mobile devices. Will content be deployed to people using a learning management system? If you have or are thinking of utilizing an LMS, take the time to understand how best to deploy enablement content to your learners. As we saw earlier, virtual learning is becoming prevalent. Virtual learning reduces costs as you don't need to factor in travel and food and drink expenses. Dunn writes you can increase engagement in learning as virtual delivery provides more flexibility for learners to access learning at a time and place that works for them. Here are some tips to consider  regarding virtual delivery. Systems like Microsoft Teams or Zoom are ideal for virtual lessons. You can share your screen to display a presentation or switch between windows to make notes,  play videos or demo other systems. Piloting learning is just as relevant for virtual as well as live classroom learning events. The trial run helps trainers to check over the enablement content, verify timings and build confidence in their subject matter and polish their engaging delivery style. If you have a learning management system, you can schedule your virtual lessons and send learners an invitation to add a link to their calendar. Otherwise, you can email invitations. To avoid learners missing their learning event, make sure you send reminders too. At the outset of the session, make sure to manage expectations, how the content will be delivered, what learning objectives will be met, how long the session will last, when to ask questions, if there are any breaks. It's a good idea to ask attendees to mute their microphone at the beginning of the session and ask questions via the chat box or by raising their hands, so as not to interrupt the trainer's flow of delivery. Keeping learners engaged virtually  is often the tricky part. This is where polls and other  interactive tools are invaluable. They'll help break up the lesson, gauge your learner's knowledge and obtain direct feedback in the  flow of the session. As you cover each learning objective set quizzes to test your learner's knowledge. Many content development tools like SAP Enable Now and learning management systems have the ability to create and deliver quizzes to assess how effective the learning is. It's a good idea to record your session so any learners who missed it can catch up. You can also set up a YouTube channel or portal and upload your recordings for future reference so that learners can refresh their memory. Anyone missing the session can catch up and new  learners can complete the learning in the future. The scheduling process is usually documented in the enablement strategy. It should be designed along the  lines of this methodology. Create sufficient events to cover the total number of learners based on the learning needs analysis so that no one gets missed. Create adequate dates and  locations into the schedule for face-to-face enablement collaborating with local team managers as there may be priority  conflicts in the business. For example, there may be a major event or conference learners are already scheduled to attend. Aligned to working hours and working patterns. It's important to understand how these working hours and patterns differ for different user groups and schedule  events that fit these patterns. It's crucial to consider accessibility requirements that need to be made in enablement sessions to be  inclusive for all learners. Upload into the learning management system if available or decide where to monitor this data and determine how  attendance will be tracked. This is particularly important for any business critical or mandatory learning.
