Why Customize?
In this course, we'll explore ways organizations can customize classification systems.
Why might they want to do this? Possible reasons include better alignment with specific business processes, improved operational efficiency, enhanced flexibility, and targeted user access control. Customizing classification systems helps organizations optimize workflows and ensure that relevant information is accessible to the right users.
Note
This course focuses on customizing settings that directly impact classification. In addition to these, specific applications may offer optional configurations that influence classification. For instance:- in the material master, you can specify the classification view either as a separate tab page or as a subscreen within the basic data.
- In the Customizing options for the material master, you can establish a standard classification for certain material types, assigning exactly one material class.
The following video introduces potential business applications for customizing a classification system.
In Customizing for Classification, you can define
Default field entries for when you create a characteristic
Characteristics groups to help users search for characteristics
Statuses for characteristics to check the standard settings and change them if necessary
Template characters and templates for entering characteristic values Templates are only proposals. You can use template characters to create your own templates at any time. There are template characters for:
