Two Ways to Classify Master Objects
To classify master objects, you can either:
- Use the object to access the classification and assign classes to the object.
- Begin with the class and assign objects to it.
The following video explains these options in detail.
Classification Status
Earlier you learned how statuses of a characteristics and classes are used to classify objects.
The classification status provides information about the actual situation of an object classification.
The following video explains how classification status works.
Note
To force your users to save only complete valuations, use the user exit CLFM0003 with the help of the SAP note 33 72 62.
User Settings: Search Result
You can control how the search result is displayed on the Find object tab in the user settings.
For instance, you can control:
- Which objects appear in search results: locked assignments, incomplete assignments, or characteristics without assigned values.
- How search results are displayed:by object key with or without a description, or by object type and classification status. You can also specify how results are sorted.
The settings for the scope of the search result are important because they determine how many objects are found and how they are displayed.
The Objs with chars but no values setting finds objects with no value assigned to the characteristics used as search criteria – in other words, objects that do not contradict the search criteria. For example, if Color = red is a search criterion, the search finds, not only red materials, but also materials with no color assigned.
Release of Classification
Once you have evaluated the classification status, you can change the classification status to "Released".
The following video shows various ways to release a classification's status manually.
As an alternative to manual release, you may be able to release classification status automatically, depending on why the status was set to incomplete, If this was done by the system and not the user, you can activate an automatic release.
Watch the following video for more detail on how this can be done.
Find Classes
To perform a classification search, you must specify the correct class on the initial screen.
The following section covers several scenarios for identifying the right class..
The following video details the Find Classes method.
The following video explains the advantages of searches using a class type. Remember that the class type controls the SAP objects separately.
Once you have performed a search, you can restrict the result in reports, as the following video explains.
Before performing the search, you can also specify reports or transactions for processing objects found in the search result.
In addition to the options shown, the search result can also be saved or exported in different file formats.
