Creating, Working, and Completing Tasks

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Create a basic approval task in a project
  • Work on project tasks

Task Process Flow

The video includes an explanation of the various task types, a demonstration of how to create a to do task from a document and an approval task. Select the play button to watch.

To Do Task

  1. The project owner assigns the task to the task owner and adds a due date.
  2. The task owner receives an e-mail notification.
  3. The task owner logs in, views the task details, and marks the task as started.
  4. The task owner does the work necessary to complete the task.
  5. The task owner marks the task as completed.

Document To Do Task

  1. The task is assigned to the task owner, with a due date, and the notification is received.
  2. The task owner marks the task as started and downloads the document from the project.
  3. The task owner makes the necessary modifications to the document.
  4. The task owner uploads the new version of the document to the project.
  5. The task owner marks the task as completed.
Note
To Do tasks and Document To Do tasks are similar, but the workflow of each type of task is slightly different.

Task Owners

Task Owners will receive automated e-mail alerts and shortcuts that will help them complete and organize required tasks.

To Do portlets on the home dashboard provide links to Required Actions across projects.
