Sourcing Projects within SAP Ariba Guided Sourcing
All sourcing activity in SAP Ariba Guided Sourcing goes through Sourcing Projects, which can either serve as one-time events (Request for Information, Request for Proposal, or Auction) or can be more strategic and track supply chain management processes through tasks and documents, included within Full Projects. Such tasks can instruct owners to perform something, edit an online document, or submit a document for a colleague's review or approval.
Full Projects and Single Event Projects
When creating an SAP Ariba Guided Sourcing project, a Project Owner must select the Project type, which has two options.
- A Single Event holds the information for a single RFI, RFP, or auction and can contain documents only as items or attachments in the event. Single-event projects only support the following tasks:
- Approval for Publish
- Approval for Award
- Review for Team Grading
- Approval for Team Grading
- Approval for Timing Change
- A Full Project is a project workspace that acts as a container to hold all of the information for the entire sourcing process, from planning to executing. It can include multiple events and supports all project management features, including phases, tasks, project documents, and project teams.
Full projects can encompass more than one-time events and include online and offline tasks in SAP Ariba Guided Sourcing. These tasks can be configured to align with companies' indirect sourcing processes for procuring new goods or services.
Guided Sourcing Full Project Features
Guided Sourcing Full Projects inherit processes and content from the template during creation to standardize sourcing work-flows and simplify project creation using:
- Project insight tiles to easily monitor the project's progress and quickly access its contents
- Task, phase, and folder creation for improved control, visibility, and compliance of sourcing activities
- Project activity history and message board panels
- Document management and versioning including capacity for multiple events
