Explaining Product Sourcing Integrations

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain the integrations required to use in the product sourcing functionality.

Integration Requirements

The product sourcing functionality, as part of the SAP Ariba Strategic Sourcing Suite, integrates with SAP ERP and allows materials to be imported from material master (MM) solutions from SAP.

The process flow for SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway is displayed.

The SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway allows you to integrate in three simple steps:

  1. Configure
  2. Extend
  3. Test
The process flow for SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway is displayed.

A self-service wizard makes the integration process easy to manage by providing step-by-step guidance.

Automated testing and embedded monitoring means that deployment times are drastically reduced.

Integration gives you access to 200+ prebuilt integration points.

Ariba Network and application data is displayed in a chart.

To use the product sourcing functionality, you must import bill of materials (BOM) documents and other data from an external system. BOM documents from SAP ERP contain references to SAP ERP material master data (such as plant and supplier information). Therefore, if you import BOMs from an SAP system, you must also import SAP material master data. You have the option to map information from the external systems to product sourcing fields.

There are four ways of importing BOM documents and other data from an external system:

  • Automatically import BOMs from SAP using the SAP Ariba cloud integration adapter.
  • Send BOMs from an external system using the SAP AribaBOMRequestsService SOAP web service.
  • Send BOM data to SAP Ariba in Product Data eXchange (PDX) format using an HTTP POST request.
  • Import CSV files.

For information about configuring SAP material master data integration, see the Common Data Import and Administration guide.
