Creating Guided Sourcing Events within Full Sourcing Projects
To allow users to create different types of guided sourcing events in full sourcing projects, the full project template must contain a guided sourcing event template for each of the event types you want to allow.
There is no full sourcing project template setting that specifies if it can be used in guided sourcing or classic sourcing. Instead, guided sourcing full project templates contain event placeholders that often have conditions applied to them. Full Sourcing Projects require users to create events only from event templates that exist in the project template.
This means you'll want to configure a full sourcing project template for guided sourcing, which should contain at least one guided sourcing event template with the Guided Sourcing Template field enabled.
Document Choices
The following procedure outlines how to create a new Document Choice as an Event type to hand-pick which event templates will be embedded into a full project template.
Procedure:
- Within the Documents tab of a new version of the full sourcing project template, create a new Document Choice from the Actions menu, assign a Title and choose Event in the Type.
- Within the Event Choices section at the bottom of the Create New Document Choice page, select Add Choice to choose which event templates you want to have embedded within the full template by navigating through the multiple pages of the active event template documents, and selecting the boxes next to them to add them as options.

- The new Event Document Choice that we created will be found in the Documents tab of the full sourcing project template. The Document Choice serves as a placeholder for our Auction Placeholder event, and it can have conditions applied to it if desired, or be left static.

Configuring a Reusable Event Template Document in a Guided Sourcing Full Project
A guided sourcing full project template can be configured to be reusable. A reusable event template enables event owners to use it to create multiple events in guided sourcing full projects created from the project template.
To configure an event template to be reusable, you add the Ad Hoc Creation condition to an event template document in a Full Project template.
You must include a separate reusable event template document in the project template for each type of event you'd like to allow users to create in a project. If you'd like to allow users to choose from multiple templates for a specific event type, add additional event template documents of that event type as necessary.
When you create a guided sourcing full project from a template that contains event template documents that aren't designated for reuse, you can only create one event from each event template document. This behavior is the same in both the classic SAP Ariba Sourcing and the guided sourcing interface.
You can use the same project template to create a full sourcing project in the classic sourcing and guided sourcing interfaces. However, the new restrictions on event creation are limited to the guided sourcing interface. As a result, if any event template documents are designated for reuse with the Ad Hoc Creation condition, they aren't available in full sourcing projects created in the classic sourcing interface.
Procedure:
- Open a full project template that is in a new, composing version to make edits.
- Within the Documents tab, add a new event template document by selecting Create→Event

- On the Create New Event page, fill out the required fields and select an event type.
- Enable the Guided Sourcing Template setting.
- Select Create and optionally edit the template's document settings as necessary.
- Select Exit and return to project.
- Create tasks as required.
- Locate the template document and select the link under the Conditions column and choose Ad Hoc Creation.

- Configure additional reusable template documents as needed and then publish the template to implement the changes when ready.
Summary
- Full Sourcing Projects require users to create events only from event templates that exist in the project template.
- Document Choices created as Event types allow template creators to specify which active event templates can be selected within a full sourcing project.
- A reusable event prototype enables event owners to use it to create multiple events in guided sourcing full projects created from the project template.
- The reusable prototype has a condition "Ad Hoc Creation" applied to it.
