Introduction
In this lesson, you will learn how to activate Joule with Limited Features in SAP HANA Cloud Central. This will give you access to advanced AI capabilities of Joule that can help you with your daily database administration tasks.
Steps to activate Joule in SAP HANA Cloud Central
Before you can activate Joule in SAP HANA Cloud Central, you need to verify that the role collection SAP HANA Cloud Administrator is assigned to your SAP BTP user account in the respective subaccount.
If this is not the case, consult the Subscribing to the SAP HANA Cloud Administration Tools | SAP Help Portal guide in the SAP Help Portal to learn how to assign this role collection.
- Log on to the SAP BTP Cockpit.
- Navigate to the SAP HANA Cloud Central using the following path:
From your <Global Account>→Choose your <Subaccount>→Choose <Instances and Subscriptions>→In Subscriptions choose <SAP HANA Cloud>
- Click on your user icon located at the top-right corner of the screen
- From the drop-down menu, select Settings.
- In the Settings menu, locate and click on the Gen AI option.
- Set the toggle button to Enabled.
- Carefully read and accept the terms and conditions.

As you scroll through the terms and conditions, a check-box will appear at the end. - Save your settings to finalize the activation of Joule with Limited Features and Gen AI.
In the Settings dialog, you can view the audit trail for the Gen AI feature. The audit trail displays the history of users who enabled or disabled the feature, along with the corresponding timestamps for each action.
Note
Enabling the Gen AI feature applies to all users within the subaccount.
