Configuring Alert Rules

As a database administrator, you want to customize the SAP HANA Cloud alerts and their attributes to make sure that all systems function as desired within normal parameters.

The image shows how to open the Configure Alert Rules application.

Select Configure Alert Rules (1) button to change the default behavior of alerts rules within SAP HANA Cloud.

The image shows how to select the alert business rules for a specific SAP HANA Cloud database instance.

From the Instance (1) dropdown menu, select the desired instance to view all the instance specific alert rules.

In the resulting Alert Rules list, each individual alert rule is provided. Each row, in the Alert Rules list, shows the name of the alert rule, a brief description, the type of instance, and whether the alert rule is enabled or disabled.

From the Alert Rules list, select an Alert Rule row (2) to display the alert rule details.

The image show the details of an Alert Rule, and by choosing Edit, the alert rule properties like status, check interval, and threshold values can be changed.

The alert rules in the SAP HANA Cloud database instance come with a set default threshold values and check intervals. Customize the threshold values according to your company's standards. In this way, the SAP HANA Cloud database complies to the same monitoring standards as on-premises databases.

Click on Edit (1) to change the configuration for the selected Alerts Rule.

You can toggle (2) between enabling and disabling the alert rule. Change the alert rules Threshold (3) values as desired based on the needs of your landscape and your company's standards. To activate the changed values, you need to save the changes.
