Opening SAP HANA Cloud Central

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to open the SAP HANA Cloud Central application for administering SAP HANA Cloud databases.

Open SAP HANA Cloud Central

As a database administrator of the SAP HANA Cloud database, you need to be able to use SAP HANA Cloud Central to administer the SAP HANA Cloud databases that are deployed in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

From the SAP BTP cockpit, navigate to your SAP BTP subaccount (1), in the navigation panel select Instances and subscriptions (2), and select the SAP HANA Cloud (3) to open SAP HANA Cloud Central.

SAP HANA Cloud Central

SAP HANA Cloud Central opens in a new browser tab. This makes it easier to navigate between the SAP HANA Cloud Central and SAP BTP Cockpit.

The image shows, in a new browser tab, the SAP HANA Cloud Central landing page with an overview of all SAP HANA Cloud instances.

The SAP HANA Cloud (1) landing page shows an overview of all the SAP HANA Cloud database and data lake instances you have access to. The line (2) displays the main KPIs of the HC_HDB database.

Display the Database Details

To display more database details, you need to open the Database Overview page.

The image shows the database details available in the Database Overview page.

The Database Overview page opens in the same tab and expands from the right-hand side. It displays a set of cards that can be used to monitor the SAP HANA Cloud database instance.

Several cards display real-time data, in a mini chart or graph that represents the status or displays an important KPI. Use the "Show KPI Usage for" (4) dropdown field to select the desired time frame for the overview cards to display.

For example, in the screenshot, you see the Memory card (1). The mini chart shows the amount of memory used by your SAP HANA Cloud database instance. Clicking on the chart opens the Usage Monitor app, where you can further investigate the memory usage of your database system.

In the screenshot, you also see the Compute card (2). The mini chart shows the percentage of compute used on your SAP HANA Cloud database instance. Clicking on the chart opens the Usage Monitor app, where you can further investigate the compute usage. Additionally, in the screenshot, you see the Consumption card (3). Clicking on the Consumption bar graph opens the Consumption Monitor app.

Note

SAP HANA Cloud database instances are preferred to be administered through SAP HANA Cloud Central, provided in SAP BTP. However, it is currently still possible to use the SAP HANA cockpit available through SAP HANA Cloud Central, but this option will be deprecated.
