Monitoring Instance Performance

As a database administrator, you want to monitor the database performance by checking the memory, CPU, and disk resource consumption of the SAP HANA Cloud database.

SAP HANA Cloud Central - Performance Monitor

Analyzing the performance of the SAP HANA database over time can help you pinpoint bottlenecks, identify patterns, and forecast requirements. Use the Performance Monitor to visually analyze historical performance data across a range of key performance indicators related to memory, disk, and CPU usage.

The image shows where to find the Performance Monitor in SAP HANA Cloud Central.

Navigate to the SAP HANA Cloud Central, and choose the link Performance Monitor (1) in the navigation panel to start the performance monitor application.

The image shows the options to select which instance performance data to show, the time range, and the possibility to create your own charts.

The performance monitor application, by default, gives a detailed breakdown of several important resources like Compute, Memory, Storage, and Network usage of the selected SAP HANA cloud database instance over a time frame of the last hour.

The Instance (1) dropdown menu allows you to choose between the available database instances, the Host (1) dropdown menu shows the different host types (Source, Replica, ECN) available for the chosen instance. The Host dropdown allows you to choose one or more of the Instance types.

The Selection Type allows you to defining a specific Time Range or Timestamp (2) by entering the desired dates. You can also select from the Presets. The following presets are available:

  • Last 5, 15, or 30 Minutes
  • Last 1, 3, 6, 12, or 24 hours
