Process Visibility - an Overview

Process Visibility is a capability and part of SAP Build Process Automation to easily establish an end-to-end process monitoring.

Process visibility is a process monitoring tool for cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments.

With process visibility you can achieve process excellence, transparency and transformation.

Main functionalities to support your business process monitoring are correlation, process status classification, configuration of process performance indicators and configuration of actions.

In the architectural figure of SAP Process Visibility on BTP its dependencies to other services and systems are shown.
Technical Integration of Business Workflows in Process Visibility - Overview
To add a Business Workflow in a Process Visibility Scenario for Workflow Monitoring purposes some technical integration work needs to be done (Example for SAP S/4HANA on-premise) beforehand.
The following steps need to be processed:

1. Activate services, run setup, get users and authorizations in your subaccount and S/4HANA System.

2. Set up a Cloud Connector between the subaccount and the SAP S/4HANA systems.

3. Get the service keys and endpoints from Process Visibility Capability.

4. Export & Import certificates from Process Visibility Capability in SAP S/4HANA. For Export use URL: https://bpmpvruntime.cfapps.sap.hana.ondemand.com/pv-service/rest/health. Right click and go to Certificate.

5. Import in S/4HANA with Transaction: STRUST.
6. Create and configure integration in SAP S/4HANA Implementation Guide. Path: ABAP Platform→Application Server→Business Management→SAP Business Technology Platform Integration.

This path is subject to change. Check our documentation in S/4HANA 2021.
7. Maintain the destination to SAP S/4HANA system in SAP BTP and add additional Properties (use the user from step 5).

Defining a visibility scenario with a Business Workflow and test the integration
After the technical integration is setup it is possible to create a process visibility scenario and add a SAP Business Workflow as process participant to achieve end-to-end process visibility on hybrid or local workflows.
Discover business workflow definitions to get the relevant process steps, events and context information.

Activate the scenario.

After that you can start a process and Monitor the Scenario.

Check your workflow monitoring dashboard of your process visibility scenario.

From the Dashboard you can easily drill down to an Business Object instance.
