Introduction
In this course, you will learn about the product development process of a forklift. Your company builds forklifts both as prototypes and in series. You occupy different positions in different departments of this forklift company.
First, we look at which departments exist in this company, which business roles are required for this, and what the tasks of the individual employees are.
First, the development department creates a basic design of the new forklift. In doing so, the experience and technical knowledge of the design engineers is trusted. You decide which components are required and develop a first rough sketch of the new forklift. This is then converted into the 3D model using the CAD model.
The master data department is responsible for entering and maintaining the data of the new product. It creates a complete data model of the new forklift, including all technical specifications and component information. This data is stored in the company and is accessible to all relevant departments.
The BOM department provides an accurate list of all parts needed to manufacture the new forklift. She works closely with the development department to ensure that all necessary parts are listed correctly. She is also responsible for procuring and storing the parts.
The variant configuration department has the task of configuring different variants of the forklift. She makes modifications to the basic design to create different models of the forklift that can be adapted to the specific needs of the customers.
All of these departments work closely together to make the development process as efficient as possible and to ensure that the final product meets customer requirements and expectations. The successful completion of this process will enable the company to launch a new and innovative forklift.
