Preparing the Customer Instance for Table Reports

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Configure Table Report Provisioning Settings

Table Report Requirements

Canvas reporting for transactional data, Dashboards Framework, and Table reporting are set to be deleted on November 21, 2025. Canvas reports will remain available for Workforce Analytics (WFA) customers beyond 2025. However, only Workforce Analytics (WFA) data will remain available, not transactional data. New customers with instances provisioned after 2H 2023 will NOT have the Dashboard Framework available to them. Tables and Canvas reporting can still be enabled for those new customers.

Validate the following before enabling Table Report Builder:

  • Role-Based Permissions is enabled in Provisioning
  • The instance Core Modules is configured and working correctly
  • Module-specific features are enabled for the appropriate sub domain schemas (SDS)

Data Models

The Table Reporting solution uses the following information in the data models:

  • Table Reporting uses the data models, for example, Employee Central, to generate the data for reporting.
  • Table Reporting only reports on objects/tables and entities/columns that are defined in the data models.

The data models are available in ProvisioningSelect companySuccession Management.

There are four main data models and the union of the content in all four data models is used to generate the data for reporting:

  • Succession/Standard Data Model
  • Succession/Standard Data Model - Country Specific
  • Corporate Data Model
  • Corporate Data Model - Country Specific
Note
If you are using Recruiting, configure additional data models. It provides configurable data models like Job Requisition data model, Candidate data model, and Candidate profile template.

If an object/entity is defined as Visibility=None in the data model, then it is hidden in Table Reporting and not available for reporting. The labels defined for object/entities in the data model are reflected as the labels shown in Table Reporting.

Template Configuration

By default, most of the standard fields are reportable. Only specific or custom fields need additional configuration.

For example, in Performance and Goal Management, the "reportable" attribute determines which fields are available in the Objective List report.

Table Report Enablement in Provisioning

Configure Mandatory Settings

Configure the following mandatory option when defining the Ad Hoc reports functions:

Select the Ad Hoc Report Builder via Provisioning → Company Settings → Analytics and Dashboard Tabs & Misc. Reporting → Ad Hoc Report Builder.

Enable the Ad Hoc Report tool framework in the customer environment.

Enable Additional Table Report Configuration in Provisioning

Performance Management and 360 Multi-Rater Subject Sync

Performance Management and 360 Multi-Rater Subject domains require a separate switch because of the Sync functionalities associated with it.

To do this, enable under Ad Hoc Report Builder:

  • Performance Management
  • 360 Multi-Rater Subject

Run the sync only once, when activated.

Additional Optional Provisioning Switches for Table Reports

Configure these additional settings in the following: ProvisioningCompany SettingsAnalytics and Dashboard Tabs & Mics. Reporting section:

  1. Allow the upload and usage of BIRT templates in table reporting.

    a. Set Enable Visual Publisher to allow the upload and usage of BIRT templates in table reporting. This switch is used to enable the Dataset option in the report builder. The Dataset option allows you to upload BIRT and excel templates.

    Note
BIRT (Visual Publisher) has an additional license fee – ensure the customer has purchased this before enabling.
  2. Setup the report to show the data for the person running the report.

    a. Select Enable INCLUDE STARTING FROM USER in people pill

This switch is used to enable starting from user functionality in people pill.

For example, setup the report in a way that shows the data for the person running the report as well as the population to which the person has access. This provisioning switch simply provides that option as part of the report definition.

  3. Remove HTML tags for ad-hoc reporting on Performance Management v11.

    a. Select the Remove HTML tags for ad-hoc reporting on Performance Management v11.— requires Rich text editor for PM and 360 option.

This allows you to display of report comments without the respective HTML tags for fields such as the Competency Comment field.

  4. Enable performance enhancement for Excel output for table reports if the customer uses table reports that are not equipped with graphical representation.

    a. Select Enable Performance Enhancement for generating Excel 2010 Output for Ad Hoc Reports if the customer uses table reports that do not have any graphical representation and they only need data in .xlsx format.

Note
Styles and graphs are not supported in this mode.
