The SAP Fieldglass Services Module

When an organization has a need for a temporary worker with specific skills to work on a defined timeframe, they create and submit a Job Posting for the open position using the SAP Fieldglass Contingent module. This process includes their submission of resumes and ultimately a hiring decision based around the job seeker's skills and experience. By contrast, when an organization has a larger scale project requiring workers with specific skills who can work independently, they use the Services module to procure the workers. in both cases Contingent and Services the organization identifies a need, engages a supplier and procures the workers needed to perform the required labor or service. However, where the Contingent module is used to define the workers, with the Services module, the organization defines the project and the works are procured according to the needs of the project. Additionally, the two modules define the Suppliers in slightly different ways. For Contingent worker, the Supplier simply supplies the workers. For Services, the Supplier provides the entire service, including the applicable workers needed to complete that service. Service providers can offer expertise for nearly every conceivable need. For example, when tax season is in full swing, many organizations rely on outside accounting vendors to complete reports and tax filings. Or when a manufacturer is releasing a new product, they may hire a marketing firm to create a targeted and time-specific ad campaign. Service providers can cover everything from facilities management to training and education, to customer service to construction and everything in between. Some services requested are for short-term projects like setting up a new office space or a long-term service like a large construction project. Some suppliers even provide ongoing services like facilities management. The specifics of a project are defined in what's called a Statement of Work or an SOW. SOWs are used to define and manage projects, collaborate with service provider, outline milestones and objectives, and control the budget. For instance, buyers can set a specific budget for materials that can reflect cost down to the defined unit, which is then included in the Committed Spend Amount on the Statement of Work. Something like a price per unit cost for example, where a unit is a workstation that a worker is configuring in a new office space. Similarly, SOWs can ensure payments are made upon completion of a certain project milestone, such as when products are delivered. A billable milestone could be something like completing the foundation of a new construction project, finishing the plumbing and electric configuration, or installing a roof. If necessary, multiple workers across different roles can be added to the Statement of Work to monitor their work on the project and to potentially be included in the overall committed spend. These features give buyers and suppliers more flexibility in managing ongoing business relationships than a standard contingent Job Posting and Work Order. The scope of the SOW and the agreed-upon milestone and deliverables will define how the services will ultimately be managed by the provider.
