Managing Replicated Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage replicated data in SAP Responsible Design and Production.

Introduction

Imagine seamlessly integrating multiple systems and ensuring data replicates accurately across diverse environments. Understanding how to set up and manage these replications is crucial for maintaining the integrity and performance of your SAP Responsible Design and Production landscape. Dive into this strategic approach to optimize your system configurations and replication processes.

Source System and Object Type Configuration for Data Replication

To configure the source systems and object types for data replication, complete the following steps:

Note

It is possible to push up to 2,000 data elements for each load to SAP Responsible Design and Production.

  1. In the SAP Fiori launchpad, open the Configuration Cockpit application.
  2. If multiple systems need to be created, go to the System Groups tabs and create the system groups.
  3. Go to the Source Systems tab and create the source systems.

    Note

On the System Groups tab, you can manage system groups, create system groups, provide IDs, and descriptions in the available languages.

To access this tab, you need to be assigned to the RDP_System_Group_Administrator role. Otherwise, the tab is not available in the application.

    Note

    • If only one customer source system needs to be connected, the default system group should be used to connect the required system.
    • If further systems need to be connected, the default system group needs to be used for one of the source system connections and cannot be left empty.
    • When subsequently creating a source system and configuring replications, choose the formerly created system group.
    • Additionally, for data import via the Import Data application, select the system group in which data should be imported.

    Note

You cannot delete or edit source systems after you create them.
  4. Go to the Replications tab and configure the replications.

    Note

Only one replication configuration can be created for the following object types:

    • Configuration Data
    • Organizational Data
    • Packaging Compositions
    • Packaging Elements

There is no restriction for the other object types.

  5. On the Replications tab, monitor the status of the replication.

Summary

  • Configure source systems and object types for data replication in SAP Responsible Design and Production.

  • Set up and monitor replication configurations for various object types.

  • Ensure you have the necessary role assignment to access specific tabs in the Import Data application.
