Delivering Item for Packaging Material in SAP ERP

There are four key configuration points in the customizing of the SAP backend-system that control the generation of delivery item for packaging materials:

• Configure the delivery type with item requirement 202 "Order w. indep. item"
• Configure the item category determination for the delivery type.
• Enable the plant determination in the packaging material type. The value of this field must be set to A or B.
• Activate the generation of delivery item for HU packing material in the delivery type.
• Activate the generation of delivery item packaging material in the packaging material type.

1. Item category determination for the delivery type:

   In Customizing (transaction 0184) Define Item Category Determination in Deliveries, assign item category to the delivery type:

   • Item Category from Material Master (VERP/LEIH):
     • Defined in the sales area of the material master for the outbound process
     • Defined in the general view of the material master in case of inbound delivery process
   • Usage:
     • PACE: Packaging item without purchase order reference and without higher-level item.
     • PACK: Generated '900xxx' packaging item from handling unit (HU packaging).
     • ZZZZ: Custom define usage that can be maintained in the customer-material info-record.

2. Plant determination in packaging material type:

   In Customizing (transaction VHAR) Define Packaging Material Types for Shipping:

   • Plant copied from the first delivery item packed in the delivery
   • Plant proposed from the packaging material master
   

3. Activate delivery item generation for packaging material in the delivery:

   In Customizing Define Delivery Type:

   • Set the flag Generation of Delivery Items for HU Packaging Materials.

4. Activate the delivery item generation in the packaging material type:

   In Customizing Define Packaging Material Types for Shipping:

   • Set the field Generate Delivery Item to value A or B.
