Copying Catalogs

To prepare a catalog for buyers, you have several options. One method is to create multiple catalogs from each supplier and then merge them into a single master catalog. Alternatively, you can start with one master catalog and divide it into separate catalogs based on what each buyer needs to see, such as the materials they are purchasing.

To copy a catalog, start transaction /ESAP/CATMAN and choose Catalog Copy from the menu.

With the copy functionality, you have the flexibility to either create a new catalog or modify an existing one. You can copy:

• Catalog header

  Including variants and descriptions

• Catalog areas

  With the assigned images and texts in all available languages

• Product assignments

  With the assigned images and texts in all available languages

If there are items you regularly copy between catalogs, you can set up recurring copy processes to streamline this task in transaction /ESAP/COPY_CTRL.

• You can copy catalogs manually using the Catalog Copy function in transaction /ESAP/CATMAN.
• Select which catalog elements to copy, including headers, areas, and product assignments with all associated data.
• Exclude catalog areas in the target catalog you do not want overwritten or deleted.
• Automate recurring catalog copy tasks using Copy Control in transaction /ESAP/COPY_CTRL.
