Locking Products and Performing Deletions

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage a Lean Catalog by locking products and performing deletions.

Product Locks

Several factors can prevent an article from being ordered in Lean Catalog. First, the system considers both plant-specific and cross-plant statuses from the SAP material master, which can be used for discontinuation control based on your shop definition settings.

Additionally, items are automatically blocked if a supplier material's validity has expired or if the price is no longer valid for the current date. As an editor, you can temporarily or permanently lock a product using transaction /ESAP/CATMAN. Within this catalog management tool, you can set a lock for any catalog item or apply the No Order indicator.

In the following demo, you will see how to adjust the validity of a supplier material and how to manually set a lock.

Deletions in Lean Catalog

Deletions in a Lean Catalog can happen on multiple levels.

You can delete the items from the catalog.

Select the material you wish to remove. Then, you you can press the Delete key on your keyboard, right-click the item and choose Delete catalog item from the menu, or use theDelete catalog item button in the toolbar. All three methods will remove the selected material from your catalog.

You can delete areas.

Start by selecting the area you want to remove. You can then either choose the Delete Area button or right-click the area and select Delete Area from the menu.

You can delete the whole catalog.

If you need to delete the entire catalog, use transaction code /n/ESAP/CATDELETE. However, keep in mind that items and areas aren't automatically removed when you delete a catalog. To ensure a clean process, delete all individual items and areas before deleting the catalog itself.
