Explaining Supplier Material Forms

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain how to use supplier material forms in Lean Catalog.

Characteristics and Forms

So far, we have seen some standard fields you can fill when creating a supplier material. But what if you need to specify the color of the material? Or add a custom message? Or you need to add some special characteristic of the material?

In this case, you can use forms. Forms contain any characteristics or changes that the supplier needs to know about.

The difference between a form and a configuration is that the form simply adds more information about the material; it does not change the price. This is in contrast to configuration, which may change the price.

An example of a configuration might be adding custom features to a car, which will change the price in the end.

But an example of a characteristic might be color options for a t-shirt. Or it might be custom information added when ordering business cards.

To add a custom characteristic or form, go to the Characteristics/Forms tab.

A Configuration screen displays editable fields and preview of a business card form, highlighting data entry requirements and customization options for business information.

Here you can create the screen (including fields, text boxes, and so on) that the buyer will fill out to customize the product.

For example, if you are building a form for ordering business cards, the screen might include fields for the buyer’s name.
