The worker opens the visual inspection result by selecting the operation Visual inspection and choosing the button Visual Inspection in the POD:

The system opens the visual inspection result in a new tab:

Since the system correctly identified the missing screw, it proposes to log a respective nonconformance (NC) record. The worker confirms the systems proposal by choosing the buttons Log and Nonconformant and adds, if necessary, additional information to the NC record.

In the background, the system creates a NC record and adds the defect picture. In addition, it enhances the SFC record by specifying in a data collection which of the three screws is missing. This information will later be used by the visual guidance system to indicate to the worker where rework is necessary. Since the manufacturing policy specifies that a SFC with missing screws must undergo rework, SAP Digital Manufacturing directs the SFC into a rework loop. It updates the SFC log and queues the SFC at the rework operation.

The following business benefits are shown in this process step:
Automated Non-Conformance Detection: The system automatically identifies defects (e.g., missing screws) in the manufacturing process, reducing the need for manual inspection and error.
Efficient Record Keeping: Automated logging of nonconformance records streamlines documentation, ensuring accurate defect tracking and historical data analysis.
Improved Workflow: Enhancing the Shop Floor Control (SFC) record with specific defect details helps in pinpointing issues faster, facilitating targeted rework operations.
Enhanced Quality Control: By integrating visual guidance systems to indicate required rework areas, overall product quality is maintained through clear directives for corrections.
Policy Compliance: Ensures adherence to manufacturing policies by automatically directing defective SFCs into a rework loop, thereby maintaining consistency and compliance with production standards.
Data-Driven Insights: Comprehensive logging and the inclusion of defect imagery provide illustrative data that can be used for future process improvements and training purposes.
Reduced Human Error: By automating suggestions and confirmations, the system reduces the chance of human error during inspections and logging processes.
