Kudos App - Before you get started

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to understand the functionality of the app

Motivation

The Kudos App addresses a fundamental aspect of organizational health: fostering a culture of appreciation and positive recognition. In many workplaces, especially those operating in hybrid or fast-paced environments, individual contributions can go unnoticed, and morale can suffer without structured ways to celebrate achievements. This lightweight, low-code application enables employees to quickly and meaningfully recognize colleagues through personalized “Kudos” messages—enhancing engagement, boosting team morale, and reinforcing desired behaviors such as teamwork, leadership, and innovation. By simplifying the recognition process into a few intuitive steps—selecting a recipient, categorizing the recognition, and providing both a short summary and detailed feedback—the app removes friction and encourages frequent, authentic praise. The Kudos Wall screen serves as a public and inclusive record of appreciation, helping build a sense of community, shared success, and emotional connection among teams. For HR leaders and people managers, the app offers a tangible, low-maintenance way to support employee well-being and reinforce company values. Ultimately, the Kudos App demonstrates how SAP Build can be used to rapidly create meaningful HR tools that have a measurable impact on organizational culture and employee satisfaction.

Application Overview

The Kudos Recognition App is a simple and user-friendly tool designed to promote a culture of appreciation within an organization by enabling employees to recognize their colleagues’ contributions through Kudos Awards. The app features two main screens:

  1. Submit Kudos Award Screen This is the primary interface for submitting recognition to a colleague. The screen allows users to:

    • Select a Recipient: Users can search and select a colleague by typing their name into a searchable input field.

    • Choose a Category: A dropdown menu allows the user to categorize the type of recognition (e.g., teamwork, innovation, leadership).

    • Enter a Summary: A brief summary to be displayed on the Kudos Wall.

    • Provide Detailed Feedback: A longer text area is provided for a more in-depth explanation or context behind the Kudos.

    • Add an Icon: Users can select an icon that visually represents the nature of the award (e.g., star, trophy, megaphone).

    • Submit the Kudos: A prominent “Send Kudos!” button allows the user to submit their entry.

  2. Kudos Wall Screen This screen displays a scrollable list of recent Kudos Awards that have been submitted. Each entry includes:

    • Recipient Name

    • Selected Icon that represents the category or spirit of the recognition

    • Summary Text that provides a brief description of why the Kudos was given

    • Detailed feedback on the context for the award (accessible by clicking on the individual award entries)
