SAP SuccessFactors Reward and Recognition is part of the compensation solution which supports spot award programs. Programs can either be cash-based or point-based with gift card redemption.
Spot Award differs from a typical compensation planning since the award is done off cycle, giving one or more employees an award at different times in an ad-hoc fashion while normal compensation planning is done for all employees at one time. Additionally, there is no template or XML for spot awards. Configuration is done by navigating to Compensation Home.
There is no copy feature for spot awards; however, Instance Synchronization tool supports copying spot award configuration from a source instance to a target instance (for example, from Test environment to Production environment). Configurations such as Settings, Levels, and Categories can be synched across instances.
Customers have the capability to work with the following two Spot Awards redemption partners as well:
- XOXODAY
- Blackhawk Networks
Customers may also use Rewards and Recognition to setup non-monetary rewards or appreciation messages. This is a great way to allow peers to send thank you messages that are seen by managers and colleagues. Further, in some countries monetary rewards are not legally acceptable and this feature opens those customers up to use Rewards and Recognition.

Note
Rewards and Recognition is available to all SAP SuccessFactors Compensation users and can be activated through Upgrade Center. Once activated, permissions will have to be granted to administrators and managers as well as budget holders and nominators.
