Exporting and Importing Selected Views

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Export and import selected views between company databases

Export and Import Views Functionality

To enhance collaboration across companies, you can export selected views (and links) to a file that can be imported into other company databases.

In this video, you will learn about the export and import views functionality. You can export all of the following views:

  • List views of all types – table views, chart views, card views
  • Views in the general overview
  • Views in the user-defined query
  • The links of all those views to various master data and various documents

There are backups of the views, and you can import them into another company’s database.

Video summary

You can export list views of all types, as well as views in the general overview, views in the user-defined query, and the links of all those views to various master data and documents. You can then import them into another company’s database.

Export views

In the Export and Import Views app, choose which views you would like to export and choose whether to export the links to the objects together with the views. Any user-defined queries that are associated with these views will also be exported. After choosing Export, a file containing the exported views is created.

Import views

For the company you want to import the views to, go to the Export and Import Views app, select Import, and choose a sharing option for the imported views. Select the file you exported before. Expand the objects to see the imported views. Go to the relevant objects in the import company to see the new imported views. You can edit the views filters and columns if necessary.
