Using Profile Match-Ups

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to execute a profile match-up.

Profile Match-Up

Profile Match-Up

A flowchart showing skill assessment for a position. Person P's qualifications are matched with Position S's requirements. Includes profile matchup, graphical and list presentation, and deficit identification.

You can run profile matchups for any combination of planning objects, or more specifically for persons and the positions they hold (or for positions and the persons who hold these positions).

The function profile matchup enables you to compare the qualifications and requirements of objects (persons, jobs, positions, and so on) against each other. The required and existing proficiency of each qualification is also considered. For example, you can compare an employee’s qualifications with the requirements of the position this employee holds to see how suited the employee is to this position. You can include an unlimited number of objects in a profile matchup.

In this case, the profile match-up function lets you compare the qualifications and requirements of a person and positions. Results can be displayed in a list form, for example using the SAP list viewer or table control, saved as a file and printed.

You can start the profile matchup from the SAP Easy Access menu, by choosing Human ResourcesPersonnel ManagementPersonnel DevelopmentInformation SystemReportsPEPM - Profile Matchup..

  1. Alternatively, you can run the profile match-up by choosing from the SAP Easy Access menu directly from the sub-profile view of the position or the employee with the transaction PPPM or the transaction PPPD. For example, from the Person: Change Profilescreen, select Current Position.
  2. When you compare qualifications with requirements, one of the following scenarios can result:
    1. The qualification fulfills the requirement exactly.
    2. The qualification does not fulfill the requirement (the proficiency of the qualification is lower than is required.
    3. The qualification does not exist at all.

The last option is an over qualification (that is, the proficiency of the qualification is higher than is required).

The interface titled Display Profile Matchup includes a drop-down list with difference scale notes, and a bar graph highlighting positive and negative skill matches.
  3. There are other options available for displaying the profile matchup. You can call these up as follows:
    1. To display the profile matchup in a table control list with the ABAP list viewer, choose the dedicated button. The values in the Difference column result from calculating the existing scale value of the qualification minus the required scale value of the requirement. Therefore, negative values can also appear in the list.
    2. To display the profile matchup using SAP presentation graphics, choose the dedicated button. The graphical representation of the profile matchup shows a comparison of the qualifications and requirements using a bar chart. The display is clear and can be evaluated quickly.
