Working with SAP Commerce Cloud Environments

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to outline the newest updates to how we work with SAP Commerce Cloud Environments.

Improvements to Working with Environments

Here, there are more improvements designed to make the life of our customers easier and make sure that environments are scaled correctly, saving valuable resources.

Scaling of Sandbox Environments

You can now inspect the database performance by viewing its usage in the Scaling Configuration page. You can also view the number of virtual machines used by the node pool. For more information, see Scaling Service Resources.

The Scaling Options panel in the Scaling tab enables you to specify the desired increase in storage size for your services. For more information, see Scaling Database and Node Pools.

Importing/Exporting Configuration Properties for the Capacity Unit Estimator

The Capacity Unit Estimator now supports importing and exporting JSON configurations to compute capacity units for environment configurations. Instead of typing each environment’s properties by hand, upload a JSON file that lists the environments and their attributes. You can create that JSON by exporting from the Infrastructure page in the Cloud Portal, configuring an environment in the Estimator and downloading it, or uploading a JSON to the Estimator, editing it, and downloading the updated file.

Change your Disaster Recovery Package

Scheduling an upgrade or downgrade of your disaster recovery package for your production environments is now possible in a self-service manner.

SAP customers already have the Standard Disaster Recovery feature. SAP also offers an advanced recovery package called Premium Disaster Recovery, which features shorter restoration times.

For more information on Disaster Recovery options, see Disaster Recovery.

To change the recovery package for an environment, you need to schedule the upgrade using the Disaster Recovery page. When you access the Disaster Recovery page, it displays a list of eligible environments along with their current recovery plans.

For more technical and functional information, refer to the Technical and Functional Specifications.

Rightsizing of Commerce Virtual Machine Scale Sets and Databases

SAP continuously right-sizes Commerce Virtual Machine Scale Sets to optimize resource usage and infrastructure. By adjusting VMSS configurations to better match actual workloads, SAP reduces performance incidents, improves resource allocation across existing VMs, and ensures Kubernetes clusters can effectively manage their pods.

Production databases are also adapted to meet your business's operational needs, ensuring you get the right type and size of database.
