Adding and Editing Slides

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the steps involved in creating a presentation.

Assembling a Presentation

To assemble a presentation, follow these three steps:

  • Upload: Upload PowerPoint Files to the SAP SuccessFactors application from your desktop
  • Assemble: Add SAP SuccessFactors content or live slides such as Succession Org Chart, 9-box, etc.
  • Present: Present in full-screen presentation mode from SAP SuccessFactors
This screenshot shows the menu options for making presentations.

Adding Live Slides

To add a live slide in the Slide Sorter or Slide Timeline mode, pull down the slide menu to Add a Live Slide. Select the type of live slide to add.

Live slide options include:

  • Matrix Grid Report (9-box): Performance/Potential matrix or How vs. What matrix.
  • Succession Org Chart: Shows a manager’s direct and matrix reports and successors.
  • Team View (Basic Org Chart): Shows a manager’s direct and matrix reports.
  • Talent Pool: Lists MDF Talent Pools. Click to view their members.
  • People Grid: Shows different employees in the grid. We can select from one to four grids in the slide.
  • Compensation: Allows presenters with Executive Review Permissions to add a live slide with Compensation data based on Executive Review Compensation templates.
  • Position Tile: Customers with MDF Position Tile View and MDF Positions can create multiple "views" using different filters for Talent Review presentations.
  • People Profile: Customers with People Profile can add slides individually or in bulk as a team / dynamic group. Users can use this live slide to navigate various individual profiles during a Talent Review presentation.
  • Analytics: Presenters can interact with the data on an Analytics live slide. A numerical display of the data is revealed by hovering over one metric in a chart. We can focus on one particular chart by clicking the chart and opening the data in a dialog box.

You may even hide a person within the team view during talent review discussions.

This screenshot shows the menu options to 'Add a Live Slide' in Presentations.

To improve the user experience, the formatting and layout of titles, including font size and placement, have been harmonized across the live slides.

Adding a Custom Profile Slide

Custom Profile slides are based on an existing uploaded static slide with added information from the profile. Custom Profile slides give greater control over slide content than the People Profile live slide. Previously, you used a People Profile live slide displaying the person’s entire profile. Now, you can create slides with just the necessary content for the talent review meeting.

Custom Profile slides are an excellent alternative to the Pixel-Perfect Talent Card (PPTC). Although they are not as flexible as the PPTC, customers can create these slides with a simple drag-and-drop interface.

In the custom slide editing mode, it is possible to:

  • Design a template for a selected population
  • Preview the template with actual employee data
  • Adjust the template layout as needed before applying the template to the selected population

Static slides are necessary to create customized slides. So make sure you upload static slides you want to use as the basis for your Custom Profile slides. The static content provides the background on which you insert dynamic profile data.

Find and add the uploaded content in the Slide Holding Area to the presentation. Then, from the Presentation menu, select Create Customized Slides.

This screenshot shows the Presentations menu and highlights the 'Create Customized Slides' option.

In the Add Populations dialog, select the population for which you wish to create a custom profile slide. Then click Add to Selected to add them to your presentation. To ensure optimal performance, do not add more than 200 people.

You can create slides for:

  • An individual user
  • A team, starting from a given manager and including a specified number of levels
  • A dynamic group that you define

A wizard displays the static background and lists the available profile data in the side panel. This is the template design mode. You can drag and drop widgets from the right panel to the slide as placeholders and adjust the layout as needed.

Different components can be added:

  • Profile photo
  • Labels: You can add customized texts with labels
  • Basic user info fields
  • Background info fields
This screenshot shows the 'Add Custom Profile Slide' wizard and highlights some specific options.

During and after the design, you can check the slide layout with real data under the Preview tab and make necessary adjustments in the Template design mode.

Finally, choose Finalize to close the wizard and add custom profile slides for each person to your presentation.

Editing Slides

The Edit Slide Settings and Edit Slide Content links are available in both sorter and timeline modes.

The Edit Slide Settings option allows users to review and potentially adjust the selection made during the slide creation. For example, for the Succession Org Chart live slide, a user could select a different position or user or decide whether to include Matrix reports.

The Edit Slide Content option gives access to a specific button based on the slide:

  • For Matrix Grid slides, a Refresh button is available to update the slide with the latest data.
  • For the Succession Org Chart slides, users can choose the Show/Hide person button to display the related icon at the top right of every user card, allowing them to show or hide a particular user.
  • For the Static slides, the Add hotspot button allows users to create a link or to open specific talent cards.
This screenshot shows the Presentations menu and highlights the 'Edit Slide Settings' and 'Edit Slide Content' options.

Printing Presentations

Users can print all types of slides, including customized slides.

When printing the presentations, you can hide people’s photos.

When there are Matrix Grid or People Grid slides, you can print one cell per page or all cells together.

Additionally, user cards on a People Grid Live Slide will automatically be printed on two or more pages if they are more than one page.

This screenshot shows the options to print Presentations.

Summary

  • When multiple incumbents exist, the system prompts users to select one incumbent before showing role details.
  • Add live slides to enhance presentations. Choose options like 9-box grids, Succession Org Charts, Analytics, or People Profiles for dynamic data.
  • Design Custom Profile slides. Use static slides as backgrounds, drag-and-drop widgets, and preview layouts for tailored talent meeting content.
  • Edit slides for flexibility. Adjust settings, refresh content, and add features like hotspots, or hide users during slide editing.
  • Print presentations efficiently. Customize printing options, hide photos, and organize complex slides like grids or user cards for readability.

Decisions Checklist for Presentations and Talent Cards

Based on the content in this section, please review the list of implementation decisions your company may need to make before implementation begins and discuss them with your stakeholders, project team, and SAP SuccessFactors implementation consultants. In this way, you will be better prepared to begin the implementation.

  • Who in your organization should have access to Presentations?
  • All presentations created in that environment will leverage this single Talent Card design. What information should be included in your Talent Card design?
  • What live slides would your organization utilize?
