MDF Talent Pools

Talent Pools allow you to group your successors into pools, and offer an alternative approach to succession planning. A common practice is to nominate individual, named successors to top-level positions and to associate Talent Pools to lower-level positions.

Talent Pools offer the following organizational and functional benefits for Succession Planning:

  • Identify High Potential Employees for critical roles
  • Ensure Business Continuity for key positions
  • Group talent for non-succession related needs (e.g., development plans, rotation programs, or high-potential pools)

Nominations to Talent Pools are:

  • Able to include a readiness level with comments/notes
  • Effective-dated
  • Approved or rejected using Role Based Permissions
  • Capable of allowing participation to multiple Talent Pools
  • Created dynamically using Job Profile Builder
  • Integrated with other SAP SuccessFactors modules
  • Reportable

MDF Talent Pools appear on a dedicated page and may be used with any available nomination method. Filters can be assigned or modified in the Admin Center.

MDF Talent Pools Filters

Talent Pool users can filter and search for nominees within a Talent Pool. The filter fields can be personalized according to their preference. Users can also add, remove, and rearrange columns in the nomination table according to their preferences. Admin users can configure which fields should be visible to Talent Pool users. These filters are beneficial for use with large Talent Pools if you want to drill down to specific details like location.

This screenshot shows the filter options available in Talent Pools.

Talent Pool Field Configuration Permission

To start with the configuration options, grant the administrator the Talent Pool Field Configuration permission within Role-Based Permissions.

This permission allows the administrator to see this area within the Admin Center to determine the available filter fields.

Once permission within the Admin Center is granted, the administrator can select fields that may be used as filters and display options on the Talent Pools page. Then, the end user determines the filters to utilize based on preference.

MDF Talent Pools Navigation

Talent Pools allow you to nominate employees to a category, skillset, or job family rather than a specific position. You can sort the talent pools by name or by owner. You can apply specific filters, and customer-specific fields can be added as filters. It helps users to drill down to the right pool types quickly. You can also create and delete Talent Pools with the necessary permissions.

This screenshot shows an example of a Talent Pool set up with associated fields.

When you choose a Talent Pool, the Talent Pool Details Screen opens, where you can easily add or remove employees or change their nomination details and readiness. You can also change the order based on the name (ascending or descending) or based on readiness.

This screenshot shows where edits can be made to employees in a talent pool.

Selecting an employee’s name brings up their respective Talent Card, and you can also show multiple Talent Cards side by side to compare employees.

Based on the position, the MDF Talent Pools can also be visible from the Succession Org Chart v12. Members from the Talent Pool can be added as successor nominees using the + (plus sign).
