Exploring the Data Centers

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to detail facts about the data centers that host the managed gateway

Data Centers for SAP Integration Suite, Managed Gateway for Spend Management and SAP Business Network

The following data centers host the managed gateway:

  • Europe

  • U.S.

  • China

  • Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)

  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Switching to the New Data Center

For customers configuring the managed gateway, the customer type determines the default data center. Refer to the table for more information.

Before you switch to the new data center, consider these points:

  • The data of the transactions posted before the switch remains in the previous data center.
  • After the switch, the transactions posted in the new data center cannot refer to data in the previous data center.
  • Before enabling the new data center in production, configure the data center in the test environment. This ensures that your configurations are working before moving over to the production environment. A data center switch in the test environment will not affect the production environment.
  • After you move to the new data center, you cannot use your existing P-User ID from the previous data center. However, if you switch back again to the previous data center, you can continue using the P-User ID from that data center.
  • You must use the new P-User ID to reconfigure the projects in the managed gateway, including the connections and mappings, and connect to the new data center.
  • We recommend configuring the SAP Ariba solutions and the managed gateway to point to the data centers in the same geographical area.

Restrictions:

  • On the managed gateway for Spend and Network page of SAP Ariba solutions, after you select the new data center to switch, the page will be deactivated for around 15 minutes. This is to prevent the selection of another data center while already processing the request to switch to a data center.
  • The managed gateway supports English only in the China data center.

Note

When you switch to the new data center, you will be assigned with a new P-User ID. Set a password for the new P-User ID. You would also need reconfigure the new sub-accounts in SAP Cloud Connector with the specific sub-account IDs defined for the new data center, RFC Destination with the new P-User ID, and Partner Profiles and Logical Ports for the outbound documents from your SAP System to the managed gateway via the Setup Interface report under General Settings in the Managed Gateway AddOn.
