Applying Configurations to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition System

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define how to access configuration items in SAP S/4HANA Cloud system

Configuration Environment According to System Landscapes

Depending on your SAP S/4HANA Cloud system landscape you can have different configuration environments.

  • If you have a 3-System Landscape, the configuration of the system is managed by SAP Central Business Configuration.
  • If you have a 2-System Landscape, the configuration is either managed by SAP Central Business Configuration or by Manage Your Solution App.

All buyer personalization is performed using Self-service Configuration UIs (SSCUIs).

Manage Your Solution App

The "Manage Your Solution" App facilitated the management of SAP best practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud, aiding the implementation team in both initiating and modifying solutions by configuring Self-Service Configuration UIs (SSCUIs).

Despite its utility, the approach to configuration is evolving.

The "Manage Your Solution" Fiori app, previously utilized for configuring SAP S/4HANA Cloud solutions in both quality and production systems, is transitioning towards deprecation. Traditionally, the majority of configuration settings were applied within the quality system in a 2-System Landscape or development system in a 3-System landscape before being transported to the production system, ensuring uniformity across environments. However, specific configurations, required separate adjustments in each system to accommodate system-specific needs.

The significant shift involves phasing out the "Manage Your Solution" app. The SAP Central Business Configuration (CBC) user interface is set to replace it. While the SSCUIs concept persists, it will be integrated into SAP CBC, offering a more intuitive and user-friendly structure for configurations. This change underscores SAP's commitment to streamlining and enhancing the configuration process for SAP S/4HANA Cloud solutions.

Note

New clients will be directly linked to SAP Central Business Configuration upon onboarding. Those currently utilizing a Manage Your Solution-based configuration will be transitioned to SAP Central Business Configuration through a guided process. Clients will receive notifications regarding this transition. The existing configurations will remain intact during the shift to the new environment.

Central Business Configuration

In the above graphic, this relationship is illustrated by the solid arrows connecting SAP Central Business Configuration and the quality system and the solid lines showing the transport between the quality and production systems.

If you’re on a 3-system landscape, the main tool in your configuration environment is SAP Central Business Configuration as well. The following graphic illustrates the 3-system landscape and its link to SAP Central Business Configuration.

Reference content coming from SAP Central Business Configuration is automatically deployed to your development system. Any settings you make via SAP Central Business Configuration are synchronized with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, for example, your organizational structure, selected scope, or configuration settings. In general, these settings are transported from your configuration system to the subsequent systems.
