The managed gateway enabled by SAP Integration Suite has best-in-class predefined business processes, extension capabilities, automated testing tool called test central, monitoring capabilities, and it comes with IAAS benefits, that is, integration as a service benefits.
Let's understand what we have in store for the most important aspects of SAP Integration Suite, managed gateway.
Predefined Processes
The managed gateway supports numerous business processes such as source-to-pay and others.
Managed gateway also has the out-of-the-box capabilities to connect your backend systems such as SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA on-premise & SAP S/4HANA Cloud Edition.
Extensibility
When it comes to extensibility, you can do a lot with the inbuilt mapping tool that helps you to create or edit customization, manage deploying or undeploying of versions, test customization and compare the outputs. As per your requirements in SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA on-premise or SAP S/4HANA Cloud you can then map custom fields from source payload to that with the target payload and mapping tool. As another sample you can use value mappings can be added for specific attributes such as unit of measure.
Integration as a Service
Managed gateway is an IAAS or Integration as a Service model and offers numerous benefits. Built on SAP technology the managed gateway is the single integration platform for both buyers and suppliers. The underlying SAP integration suite technology, message mappings and IFlows are not visible to the end user. The integration flows are configured using intuitive self-service wizard-driven process and the transaction monitoring is provided within the portal itself. All the processes can be fully extendable via mapping tool. Besides that, there's no additional license costs, no requirement of maintaining middleware, and SAP Integration Suite skills not required. A comprehensive documentation is available on SAP Help Portal.
