Getting Ready for Implementation

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to prepare and set up the required pre-configuration and base settings to successfully implement SAP Service Cloud Version 2.

Pre-Configuration Settings - Language and Region

To prepare for the implementation of SAP Service Cloud Version 2, a company must ensure the data for the following settings have been determined and are available to be pre-configured. For example, the company must determine what type of currency will be their default setting.

Currency, language, time zone, country/region, fiscal period, exchange rate highlighted.
  • Currency

Currency pre-configuration involves setting the default currency for your system. It determines the currency in which financial transactions are recorded and displayed.

  • Language

Language pre-configuration sets the default language for your system's user interface and communication. It determines the language of system messages, menus, etc.

  • Time Zone

Time zone pre-configuration establishes the default time zone for your system. Date and time values in the system are recorded and displayed based on the specified time zone. The Time zone is the base for the calculation of different types of dates, including those for calculating service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Country/Region

Country/region pre-configuration sets the default country or region for your system. It helps determine country-specific settings and regulations, such as tax codes, legal requirements, address formats, and regional preferences.

  • Fiscal Period

Fiscal period pre-configuration defines the structure and timing of fiscal periods for financial reporting purposes. You need to set the start and end dates of each period.

  • Exchange Rate

Exchange rate pre-configuration defines the exchange rates between the currencies used in your system.

Base Configuration

Base Configuration - Idle Time

As a security measure, SAP Service Cloud Version 2 will automatically log a user out after a specified amount of inactive time. In the company settings workspace, you can select when an inactive user will be logged off. The default setting is 1 hour. Prior to implementation determine what this timeframe should be, then configure the system accordingly.

Appearance, branding and behavior are highlighted.

Base Configuration - Content Security Policy

Base Configuration - Content Security Policy highlighted.

Content Security Policy (CSP) is a security mechanism implemented by web applications to mitigate the risks associated with cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks and other code injection vulnerabilities. The base configuration for this policy involves selecting from within each of the several sources of content the ones your company will allow/trust or not. This will enhance the security of your web application by protecting against various types of attacks.

  • Script Source

The Script Source specifies the trusted sources from which scripts can be loaded and executed on a web page. By defining the allowed script sources, you can prevent the execution of malicious scripts from unauthorized origins. For example, you might specify that scripts can only be loaded from your own domain or specific trusted domains.

  • Style Source

The Style Source specifies the trusted sources from which stylesheets (CSS) can be loaded on a web page. It allows you to restrict the loading of stylesheets from untrusted or potentially malicious sources.

  • Default Source

The Default Source serves as a fallback when a specific source is not defined for a particular content type. It is used when there is no specific policy defined for script, style, frame, or image sources. The default source can be set to 'none' to disallow any content of that type from being loaded.

  • Frame Source

The Frame Source specifies the trusted sources from which frames or iframes can be loaded on a web page. It allows you to control which websites or domains can embed your content within their frames.

The Image Source specifies the trusted sources from which images can be loaded on a web page. By defining the allowed image sources, you can prevent the display of images from untrusted or potentially malicious sources.

Lesson Summary

This lesson discussed the pre-configuration settings crucial in setting up SAP Service Cloud Version 2 effectively. We focused on defining default settings such as currency, language, time zone, country/region, fiscal period, and exchange rate. Additionally, we covered security measures like defining the idle time before a user is automatically logged out and the Content Security Policy (CSP). In the next lesson, we create employee profiles and assign them to the correct corresponding business users and roles.
