Formatting Tables

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to apply display, appearance, and layout settings to customize table presentation and structure in a Web Intelligence document.

Format Tables

Tables (Classic Report Elements)

To view formatting settings, select a table and then select the Report Element Format tab.

A table column header is highlighted and linked by arrow to formatting toolbar options for display, appearance, text, and layout, each with descriptive tooltips.

Display Settings

  • Layout section: Header, Footer.
  • Hide section: Hide always, Hide when empty, Hide when formula is true.
  • Columns and Rows section: Avoid duplicate rows aggregation.
  • Columns and Rows section \ Rows sub-section: Show rows with empty measures values, Show rows for which all measure values = 0, Show rows for which the sum of measure value = 0, Show rows with empty dimensions values.

Appearance Settings

  • Background section: No color, Color.
  • Background section \ Alternate Color sub-section: Color, Frequency.
  • Background section \ Pattern sub-section: None, Skin, URL, File, Linear Gradient.
  • Borders section: Border color, Border styles, Border thickness, All borders, No border, Border top Border left, Border bottom, Border right.
  • Spacing and Padding section: Horizontal, Vertical.

Text Settings

Text section: Font, Font size, Color, Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Align left, Center, Align Right, Justify, Align top, Center, Align Bottom, Wrap text.

Layout Settings

  • Layout section: Repeat vertical header on every page, Repeat vertical footer on every page.
  • Relative Position section: Place left of the table, Place top of the table
  • Page Break section \ Vertical sub-section: Avoid page breaks, Start on a new page, Repeat on every page.
  • Page Break section \ Horizontal sub-section: Avoid page breaks, Start on a new page, Repeat on every page.

Tables (New Report Elements)

To view formatting settings, select a table and then select the Report Element Format tab.

Toolbar options for editing a table include display, appearance, specific column settings, layout, and advanced features, each with corresponding functions highlighted by callouts.

Display Settings

  • Hide section: Hide always, Hide when empty, Hide when formula is true.
  • Dimensions and Measures section: Avoid duplicate rows aggregation, Show measure values with empty dimension values, Show dimension values with empty measure values, Shows measure values when value = 0, Shows measure values for which the sum of values = 0
