Configuring Tendering and Subcontracting (All Modes)

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure tendering and freight order/booking confirmation scenarios.

Freight Tendering

You can perform RFQ-based tendering with SAP Business Network for Freight Collaboration. The following configurations are required.

1. Enable message interfaces

The following B2B message interfaces need to be configured for sending and receiving messages out of SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM).

  • TransportationOrderQuotationCreateRequest_Out

To send freight requests for quotation to SAP Business Network for Logistics

  • TransportationOrderQuotationConfirmation_In

To receive freight quotations from SAP Business Network for Logistics

  • TransportationOrderQuotationNotification_Out

To send award notifications to SAP Business Network for Logistics

  • TransportationOrderQuotationCancellationRequest_Out

To send cancellations to SAP Business Network for Logistics

Diagram visualizes the RFQ-based freight tendering collaboration between SAP TM and SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration, showing key message flows and response types.

2. Configure communication settings

Configure communication settings to send EDI, notification, and cancellation messages from SAP TM.

3. Configure rejection reason codes

SAP Business Network for Logistics supports a predefined list of rejection reason codes that the carrier can select when rejecting a freight RFQ in your network.

ReasonDescription
LBN_TIMENo availability at the requested time
LBN_CAPANo capacity to execute the transportation request
LBN_PRICECannot make an offer for the requested price
LBN_OTHERSNo reason specified for rejecting the freight request for quotation

4. Maintain text type

This allows carriers to submit a note with freight quotation.

5. Maintain MIME types

This allows carriers to receive attachments that are sent over the network.

6. Configure message sequencing

A carrier can submit multiple freight quotations for a single freight RFQ. Message sequencing configuration ensures that the incoming freight quotations are processed in the same order they were created in SAP Business Network for Logistics.

Note

You can find more details about these configurations in the Freight Tendering sectionof the Administration Guide for Shippers.

Freight Orders for Confirmation

Direct tendering or subcontracting of freight orders can be performed with SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration. The following configurations are required.

1. Enable message interfaces

The following B2B message interfaces need to be configured for sending and receiving messages out of SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM).

  • TransportationOrderRequest_Out

To send freight orders for confirmation or direct tendering requests to SAP Business Network for Logistics

  • TransportationOrderConfirmation_In

To receive freight order or direct tendering confirmations from SAP Business Network for Logistics

  • TransportationOrderCancellationRequest_Out

To send freight order cancellations to SAP Business Network for Logistics

Diagram shows the freight order confirmation process in SAP S/4HANA, with key message exchanges and possible responses between shippers and carriers.

2. Configure communication settings

Configure communication settings to send EDI and cancellation messages from SAP TM.

3. Maintain text type

This allows carrier to submit a note with confirmation of freight order.

This configuration helps correctly show the vehicle license plate country or region codes sent form the carrier.

6. Maintain MIME types

This allows the carrier to receive attachments that are sent over the network.

A carrier can confirm a freight order multiple times. This configuration ensures that the incoming freight confirmation messages are processed in the same order they were created in SAP Business Network for Logistics.

Note

These configurations are elaborated in the Freight Orders for Confirmation section of the Administration Guide for Shippers.

Freight Booking Confirmation

Subcontracting of freight bookings can be performed with SAP Business Network for Freight Collaboration. The following configurations are required.
