Integrating Freight Settlement with SAP Transportation Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe the services that can be used to integrate freight settlement with SAP TM.

Freight Settlement – Integration

SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration enables shippers to receive invoices from carriers in SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) and manage the dispute process.

Shippers can choose to manage disputes on SAP Business Network for Logistics or in SAP TM. That choice will dictate which services they must enable on SAP TM to support the freight settlement process.

Freight Settlement – Disputes Handled on Network

This section describes SAP Business Network for Freight Collaboration support for managing disputes on the network.

If a dispute is raised on the network and new amounts and/or charges are agreed on, the charges in SAP TM must be updated with the new amounts and/or charges, so they match what is on the network. Only after that is complete can the invoice be successfully submitted to SAP TM. If no dispute is raised on the network, then this step is not required and the invoice will be directly submitted to SAP TM.

Enable message interfaces

The following B2B message interfaces need to be configured to send messages to or receive messages from SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) for settlement with disputes managed on the network.

  • TransporationOrderRequest_Out

Used for freight orders to send freight settlement requests to SAP Business Network for Logistics.

Make sure to enable the sending of charges in the SAP TM EDI Communication Profile config.

In this case, when a carrier submits an invoice, it flow directly to SAP TM. If a dispute is raised, it is communicated to the network, where the carrier can then respond to the dispute. The response is sent back to SAP TM.
