Managing Locations

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage location master data in SAP Business Network for Logistics.

Options for Managing Locations

Location master data is required for applications such as dock appointment scheduling, managing freight execution, and so on in SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration. The locations in SAP Business Network for Freight Collaboration must be in sync with SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) for processes to accurately reference the location data.

There are two approaches to managing location master data in SAP Business Network for Logistics:

  • Automated method by leveraging the Data Replication Framework
  • Manual method via the Manage Locations application

Managing Locations by Master Data Replication

To set up master data replication from SAP S/4HANA, you must configure the replication of master data via the Data Replication Framework (DRF) in the SAP S/4HANA source system. DRF uses SOAP service LocationBulkReplicationRequest to replicate location master data from the source system to SAP Business Network for Logistics.

Managing Locations Manually

Manual approach

You can use the Manage Locations app to manage location master data in SAP Business Network Freight Collaboration. The app provides two methods for managing location master data:

  1. Manually create/edit locations
  2. Mass upload via Excel

Manually creating locations

The Manage Locations app has functions to manually create, edit, and view location data.

The interface allows users to input general information, address details, and map coordinates when creating a new location in the app.

Mass uploading via Excel

The Manage Locations app provides a template to upload master data into the system.

A popup window guides users to upload a file and select options for managing locations in the app.
